Photobucket Screwed Me

Checking on my Blog today, I noticed that the majority of my images were not loading properly. I am so sorry for not noticing it sooner. Apparently, Photobucket, which I had been using for years decided it is now going to make their users pay monthly if they want to link/show the images they upload on there anywhere else. So,  I have been trying to change them over to here for the past few hours while I have someone here working on the house (that is another story entirely). 

While I've been diving into the past and looking at old blog posts, I realize how different I am, how much I do miss the old school blogging days, and how I may just pick it back up. I still enjoy doing reviews or guides on here or YouTube, or freelance. However, it is fun to share thoughts on here. 

Life updates and more will be posted in the hopefully near future...

Graduation!

In May of last year, I graduated from Nursing School with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. It was very hard work, and I’m proud of this degree tremendously. Yes, I have another one in Criminal Justice, but it was not very useful for me. This one however, is a true passion and I am very glad I decided to do it. I made some amazing nursing friends and also learned more than I thought possible.

I Fell... and Broke Stuff

Right after graduation, I fell. It was a long, tiring day, without much food or liquids (not even a drop of alcohol). When I got home, I was turning around to grab something else out of the car, and I fell down the steps on the porch onto cement. Let me tell you, it was the worst pain of my life. A true 10/10 on the pain scale. I broke part of my foot, sprained both ankles, messed up the tendons, and bruised my wrist, lots of scratches, and bruising really. I had this very ortho-fashionable boot to wear for a month. By the way, nurses make terrible patients.

NCLEX

The NCLEX is the dreaded test that all of those who pass nursing school have to take in order to become a licensed, registered nurse. You know, to be able to say that you are an actual RN and get to sign your name RN after it. It was a month of studying after graduation and tons of partial breakdowns, but I passed the first time I took it. Whew!

I Fell… for a Guy

Okay, so I didn’t literally fall. This is Will and I actually met him while I was still recovering from the very hurtful fall. I was single for awhile, because I wanted to focus on school, and to be honest, I’m quite picky. This one though, is a keeper. Sorry ladies, he is mine!

Sheri, RN – Job # 1

I started my first job as a nurse in June. I thought night shift would work out fine for me, so I decided to do that as my first job. I liked the hospital I precepted at in Med-Surg, so I went there. However, I soon came to learn that it was very much not for me. Especially after I moved in with Will who lived about an hour and fifteen minutes away from that hospital. Yes, it was rough going back and forth to work on those nights and mornings.

In December I decided to join the R+F team my friend had just signed up for. I knew I needed two regimens (Soothe and Reverse) so I just signed up as consultant to save money and get the other tools I wanted, too. I didn’t take it too seriously until I could see results for myself, which I started to see as early as February. Sheri, RN – Job # 2

Remember how I said I was driving so much on that first job? Well, I couldn’t keep doing it physically and work 12-13 hour shifts. So, I applied at jobs closer to my new home and was actually recruited by the place I ended up. It is a rehab hospital which is only about 30 minutes away. Not too bad! I just started it this month in March, but I like it so far.

Hello Kitty Jet Plane – For Real!

I saw this on the news today and it is something that  I just had to share with everyone. I love Hello Kitty and although I don’t fly often, if I did… I would totally want to take a trip on this Hello Kitty airplane!

 Even the flight attendants are all Kittified serving Hello Kitty themed food! 

Although this dance party probably doesn't happen every time, it is pretty darn cute.

How to Kill Gnats or Fruit Flies

One of the most annoying things to me is gnats. They are also sometimes called fruit flies because they are drawn to sweet things such as fruit, sugary drinks, etc. They are small little things but they cause a huge disturbance factor for me. Once I see one, I want it dead. However, they are fast little suckers and are often hard to kill with just your hands.

I’ve been trying to find out how to kill gnats or fruit flies for years. Someone suggested using red wine by putting it in a dish, but that didn’t work.  Plus, it is a waste of wine.

Finally, I think I found a way. I put apple cider vinegar into a small dish, and overnight three of those little suckers were found swimming in it.

For a long time now I’ve been really holding back on using Twitter for much of anything.

Sure, I used it to promote some of my articles on Bright Hub and occasionally I’d put in a tweet here and there about something interesting. I can see why people probably didn’t want to follow me lol

I am trying to really do better with my tweets and am tweeting much more often. Not just about my articles either. Sure, I would love for everyone to go read them but I know some people don’t play video games and have no desire to read about them. Now I’m tweeting about random stuff, interesting things and what is on my mind at that moment.

July is Going to be an Interesting Month

No Free Internet for the Neighbors!

Is your internet running slowly? Do you sometimes notice that it is taking forever to load webpages that normally load quickly? Well, there could be multiple reasons for this, but one of them… could be that your neighbors or other random people in the area are actually using your wireless internet.

I live in the country. When people say they live in the country, you know what I mean. “Country” where it takes five minutes to get to our house from the main road due to the winding mountain road we live on. We have neighbors, but not many. We live on the lake (or river, depending on who you ask).

Our internet isn’t even that fast out here, so who would want to steal our internet is beyond me. I mean, it isn’t like we have 4G options or anything. Though, I do wish we had that option!

I recently read an article about bad neighbors, and being that we have some destroying the woods next to us to build a house, I decided to read it. Though to be quite honest, I don’t call these people “neighbors” instead I opt for “The Invaders.” They are annoying, arrogant, and worst yet – one of them was on a bad reality television show I never watched. More bad qualities can be written about them, but I won’t bother to do so now.

The article said that about 33% of American households don’t actually pay for their internet. They steal it from their neighbors. Yup.

Guess who also gets in trouble if they do illegal activities on their computers? You do! I knew this, but apparently most people find that shocking. If you pay per GB for your internet, it can also cost you a lot of extra money! They can also be severely slowing down the speed of internet at your house.

Unfortunately the article doesn’t say how to get rid of annoying neighbors with any VooDoo spells or anything, but it did give a good suggestion to password protect your wireless internet connection. I quickly did this and with a little search on the make of our wireless router, I figured out how to do it easily.

After setting up the password protected connection, I have noticed that it is going faster. I’m not 100% sure if anyone was actually using our internet or not (if they were they must have had an awful signal), but it does seem to be helping to speed things up.

WTF? The Russian Mafia and Penis Enlargement Advertising

While approving comments for my Blog, I came across one today that involved the Russian Mafia and Penis Enlargement. Oh yes, you read that correctly.



The comment read something like this:

“HELP I’m being held prisoner by the Russian Mafia and being forced to post spam on blogs and forums! They’re coming back… please send help!”

I obviously did not accept such a comment as it linked to websites that provide said enlargements and probably also sends lots of viruses and malware your way too.

I know it isn’t real, but it is quite funny. Imagine the girl being held hostage thinking this:

Weekly Lovelist: New Layout, Art, Celebs

New Layout!



As I brought up before, I paid for a commission done through Deviant Art for the geisha girl you see above. This fabulous artist that created it can be found at: http://www.ooangeliusoo.deviantart.com/ and offers great art for really affordable prices.

I turned the picture with the girl into the header I have now and adjusted the blogger template and such to go with it. I’ll try to add in some more things to go with it soon. I’m just happy it is how it is right now. I will be tweaking it and adding things soon though.

Oh yes, I actually took the time to watch this commercial one day. I usually fast-forward through commercials – who watches live TV anymore?

I laughed hysterically. I mean, it is so true. Who really feels like running on the beach, dancing in a circle and wearing WHITE spandex when it is that time of the month? Definitely NOT me!

Also, mentioning the blue liquid used in the commercials for pads – LMAO! Yes, we have blue blood people! What? Your blood isn’t blue too? Hmm.

Fire pits and Campfires – A Former Girl Scout’s Dream

Where I grew up in Florida we couldn’t have campfires or even fire pits in the backyard. The only time I ever got to enjoy one was when I went camping with my Girl Scout Troop (and only in an approved fire area of course). I also enjoyed them when I went to visit my Aunt Stacy and Uncle Greg in North Carolina – they love a good campfire too.

Now that I live in Alabama, I am able to have a campfire, fire pit or even an outdoor fireplace in the backyard. The fireplace is a better option price wise, and makes the patio a more enjoyable space when it starts getting cold outside. The patio fireplaces may not be huge, but they really do put out heat for those nearby. Plus, they are elegant and bring the ambiance that only a fire can bring to an outdoor living space.

This fire pit table would have been perfect for our tropical backyard in Florida, right near the pool. It makes an ideal choice for anyone wanting that resort style atmosphere in their own backyard – no matter where you live.

The fire pit table is a pricier addition to your backyard – but it would be well worth it if you can afford it. When building my dream home, I’m definitely going to add one of these to my outdoor living area. I can imagine sitting around this table with good friends, family and wine or vodka (whichever is being served) and making lasting memories telling stories and laughing about good times.

Recession Fortune Cookie

The recession has even hit the once positive and inspiring fortune cookie.

I opened one last night that said this:

“You shouldn’t overspend at the moment. Frugality is important.”

Well gee, thanks. I know I shouldn’t be buying a new computer, HD LCD TV, Blu-Ray player, Wii, PS3, etc. Not that I don’t want those things, because I really, really do. I just know I can’t afford it right now, at least not all at once.

I don’t really want my fortune cookie reminding me of this. Aren’t they supposed to be cheerful and uplifting (at least to some extent)?

I miss the days when I got one that read:

“Fame and fortune are coming your way.”
“You will be unusually successful in an entertainment career.”
“The project you have in mind will soon gain momentum.”
– all real fortunes I’ve gotten before and are even taped on my desk.

Not long ago I got one that even said:

“Focus on your long-term goal. Good things will soon happen.”

Photo Copyright Scammer

While going in and checking over the comments to be published on here I came across two that screamed SCAM at me.

Dawn (who did not include an e-mail address or correct “blogger” profile on the comment) apparently thinks I infringed on some copyright with a lily image that I badly blacked out. She didn’t say it good grammar though.

Here is what she said (on a page which had nothing to do even with flowers) “please remove the photo of mine that you posted in contravention of copyright law on your flickr site--it's the one of the lily that your (badly) removed the black background from.”

Okay “Dawn” what image are you talking about? I don’t recall ever placing such image on my Blog and furthermore, I never even posted a single picture on a flickr page.

Then there is another comment (which I won’t approve either) but she says this “You posted an image of mine in contravention of copyright law on your Flickr page and a few others pages--please remove it immediately. Please note a formal complaint has been filed with Flickr and Yahoo.”

Again, no Flickr so what are you talking about? You can’t scam me.

Anyone else having issues with little scammers like her (or him, or it, whatever it is)?

Update: "She" e-mailed me and said same stuff. I responded stating that she needs to only contact person she thinks stole the image, not any random person who uses Blogger. Waiting to hear back now. Unbelievable!

Dentist Fun, Shopping and Survivor – oh my!

Today I went in for a new patient exam, x-ray and cleaning at the dentist. I had a huge issue with some teeth back in June that I had fixed but since I figured it was time I went in for real, I made an appointment and was able to get in pretty quickly.

Going to the dentist with no insurance is not cheap. So I was waiting for when I had some more cashflow coming in before I could go back. I was hired for a job (not one I really want as a career) but a job that gives me cash (tips) and an hourly wage. I’ll talk more about this (maybe) later when I’m working there longer.

The exam and x-rays and cleaning were extensive. It took 3 hours and was really quite interesting. It was much more high tech than my last dentist (granted that was like 4 years ago). It was kinda cool even and usually I quite dislike going to the dentist because pain is involved.

Well, I have a pretty bad cavity on the upper right I need to get filled and one next to it. So, I’m getting 3 filled on the right side ASAP. Then I have 3 more minor ones to do at another time (soonish) after that. Not cheap but it really needs to be done before those turn into big problems too.

I’ve decided even if I don’t have dental insurance, I really need to go 2 times a year for checkups so these issues don’t happen anymore. I don’t like the pain of it and I need to take better care of my teeth.

Next year I also hope to get invisilgn. This is also not cheap. It is braces, sorta. My teeth aren’t the worst but they make me really insecure about myself. Plus, it’ll help fix some of my other dental issues. So, that is my plan for next year. Hopefully it’ll happen.

After the dentist I went to the mall.

Free Victoria’s Secret panties card/coupon I just had to redeem ya know? I Can’t let that go to waste!

I stopped by the book store (usual stop while at the mall) and found a “last chance” section where all books were only $1. Seriously, did I just leave the dentist’s office and walk into a little piece of heaven at the local mall? Free panties, $1 books…. Chik-fil-a…



To make it even better, I found a nice pair of jeans on sale that fit perfect. Again… heaven! Plus some really cute zebra print flannel PJ bottoms. I know what you’re thinking… cute, lame, funny, rawr, etc., but I love them!

Pretty good day and then Survivor made it even better. Tonight’s episode was true Survivor blindside when someone’s dream of winning $1 million was smashed by someone using a secret hidden immunity idol that he didn’t even have a clue to know where to find it (again)! I don’t like Russell as a person, but he is a great player in the game of Survivor. Plus, also in this episode Natalie killed and ate a rat! I get that they are hungry, really hungry… but now she is forever going to known as “rat girl” – worth it or not? I think not!
