Moon Swept by Rebecca York

Moon Swept includes two complete novels: Witching Moon and Crimson Moon written by Ruth Glick writing as Rebecca York.

I bought this in the bargain section a month or so ago at a book store. I’m not usually into werewolf books (I prefer vampires), but I thought I’d give this one a try. I mean for just under $4 it had two books in one.

Witching Moon is the paranormal love story of Adam Marshal (werewolf) and Sara Weston (witch). Their supernatural powers are enhanced by the swamp by where they live and bad witches have moved back to town to get revenge on those who forced their families to move out many years ago.

It sounds like it could be an okay read, right? So wrong. It took me forever to get through this book and usually I read really fast (if it is something I enjoy reading). This was worse than assigned readings in high school.

The author way overused the word “probably” and changed the point of view not just each chapter but throughout the chapter too. I was so annoyed reading it I almost just tossed the book in the trash halfway through.

I didn’t even bother reading the second novel Crimson Moon included in this catastrophe of a paranormal romance book.

Anyone know of any GOOD paranormal romance books to check out?

I don't know of any good paranormal romances, but I do love that you took a chance on this book. Some great reads come from the bargain bin. Sorry this one didn't work out.

I'm sorry it didn't work out and I don't read any of those books I forced myself to read Twilight and only read the first book. I don't mean to put anyone down about Twilight it wasn't bad but it was by far not one of the best books I have ever read. Then, again I am 44 years old and maybe that was the problem. Anyways, what I am impressed with is that you took the time warn others about a rotten book, I very rarely read that type of review. I mean even when you can tell someone didn't like it they still kind of hedge and I am glad you didn't hedge. I appreciate that a lot.

The range and quality of paranormal books now available is astonishing ... but there are still far too many trite, oversexed books out there. If you're looking for plot, characters and imagination then try Nalini Singh, Jacqueline Franks or JR Ward. On my website I have a lot of recommendations of books and authors and reviews of good and not so good books. Don't worry about the fact that there's also a bookshop there - it's only for Australians so don't worry about that. See if www.fangtastic.com.au helps at all :) Good luck!

Sorry you didn't like it. Glad you were still able to get thru it and post about it to warn us all if we see it in a store too!

I have a fabulous suggestion for you. Read The Vampire Huntress Legend series by L.A. Banks . There are 12 books in all. The first few are Minion, The Awakening, The Hunted and The Bitten. These are followed by The Forbidden, The Damned, The forsaken, The Wicked, The Cursed, The Darkness, The Shadows, and finally The Thirteenth. You SO cannot go wrong with this series. Also, check out the website www.vampirehuntress.com
