Redbox – Any of you use it?

We just cancelled our NetFlix subscription and are now getting HBO and Showtime instead. I miss seeing new releases though. So, when I was at Wal-Mart the other day, I saw one of these RedBox things claiming that movies were only $1 a night. Looks pretty easy and simple – is it? If you have used this service, let me know your thoughts on it please!

*We live at least 45 minutes away from a location of one of these, so I wouldn’t use it that often, but just curious in case I ever wanted to. Thanks!

Paranormal Investigation – My House

This weekend I wasn’t just busy being chased by bees, I was also being chased by ghosts at my house. I’ve known there are a few spirits here since I first moved in. So, I figured why not invite the group over to investigate here?

They treated the investigation like a normal residential investigation, except I was now the “client.” That pretty much sucked for me because I couldn’t investigate too. I was able to watch the monitors from out back on the patio though. I also did sneak and persuade to see a few of the pictures that were taken that captured something.

It seemed like just about everyone had a personal experience or felt something (especially in my bedroom). However, that isn’t proof and we need evidence! So, I’m waiting to hear back on the evidence (if any) that was caught. I’ve had many experiences at this house, so I know there is something here. I just hope they were able to get something on tape, audio, pictures, etc.

Once the evidence gets back to me, I’ll share it with all of you because I know you are dying to know too. Admit it, you are! I may even post a link to the group I’m in because I also know you’re dying to know this bit of information too. Don’t really die though, but if you do – drop in on me and give me some good evidence okay? LOL Bad paranormal humor, don’t take offense!

Flashback Friday – Me!

Usually my Flashback Fridays feature things in “Pop Culture.” However, since I am on an unusually big photo kick, I decided to post pictures of myself when I was a kid. These were taken from my scrapbook, enjoy!

This is one of my favorite pictures. It is the opening pic in my scrapbook too with a page all to itself!

This was taken at Cocoa Beach, FL – where I grew up.

Me and my Mom at a birthday party, though I am not sure whose. Party of some sort though, I think anyways.

Me on my awesome Rainbow Brite bed with all the dolls. Other picture is me with my cabbage patch doll Cindy and the boy one though really he was irrelevant. I carried Cindy with me everywhere.

Pics From Last Week + Update

I guess I am in the mood to post pictures, which is strange because I don’t usually want to post many pictures (of myself especially). I didn’t get a lot of photos because I was video recording! Yes, we got a digital camcorder so I was playing around with that mostly. I still need to edit all that footage and put it on a DVD with some pictures too. (I feel a headache coming on just thinking about doing that).

Anyways, here are some pictures I took while some of my family was visiting last week. Enjoy!

Self photo at my Aunt Doris’ house. I love her geisha figurines so I took a pic by it.

L-R: Aunt Kathy, Aunt Doris, Mom
I took this at my Aunt Doris’ house. We had lunch over there and visited with her and my other grandma too and Aunt Mildred. My Nana was also there who is visiting from FL too, but she wasn’t in this picture.

Nana, Aunt Kathy, Mom and myself went to Nocallula Falls for a picnic one day. Here is what the falls look like normally. If you remember in a previous post, I posted pictures of what it looked like after a lot of rain.

Another self photo I took while standing by the falls.

L-R: Nana, Mom
They probably don’t like this picture, but I think it is cute.

Update on gardening:
I planted more seeds. I’ve planted about 30 packages of seeds now. I’ve never planted this many in my life! It is fun though. Only thing I really dislike about it is the constant threat of bees and wasps.

I cut two roses to bring inside. Aren’t they pretty?

Earth Day – Part 2

After my last post I went outside and took pictures in the yard. The signs of spring are definitely here and I wanted to share them with all of you. Here are a few I was able to capture before being chased off by bees – literally. They were out in masses today.

It is good and bad for me. Good because they pollinate and bad because if one stings me I’m allergic and will more than likely need to get to a hospital ASAP. I was stung by a little sweat bee once when I was about 10 or 12. It stung me on the top of one of my boobs and it swelled up to be huge! I was so embarrassed and in massive pain. I really hope I am never stung again.

Anyways, on to the pictures…

I don’t know what this is called, but it blooms once a year and is in the shade.

This was growing on its own randomly. It is probably a weed or seed that was dropped by a bird. I thought it was cute just growing off on its own though.

These are yellow and pink roses that are just getting ready to bloom.

Red roses that are growing beautifully. I tried to get a better picture but this is when the bees chased me off the first time.

I planted these Sweet Williams last year from seeds. They never bloomed last year, so I replanted them in the ground by the roses hoping they would come up this year on their own – and they did! I can’t wait till they are in full bloom!

Again, I do not know what this is called. It is pretty though.

It took me awhile to plant seeds. I ended up planting 4 packages of Snapdragons in 2 big planters. Then I figured I better plant the seeds in little things inside before putting them outside (and use better soil in those). So, I used egg cartons my Mom had been saving (for this purpose) and other random things I found like an old coffee mug and margarine container – hey it works! My Mom also told me where some old Miracle Grow soil was so I used that instead of our compost soil, which is good too – but not for starting seeds with really.

The only side of the house (inside) that gets good sunlight is in the bathrooms upstairs, so I decided to put them there for now.

All together I planted: Snapdragons, Larkspur, Lobelia, California Poppy (orange), Cleome (Rose Queen), Sunflower, Petunia and Statice.

I wrote on all of them what they are and when I planted them. I have OCD, I know. Want me to prove even more that I do? I made sure one of the packages of each is in great condition so I can put them in a binder about gardening. More importantly though, the back side of the package says how long they are supposed to germinate and where to plant them. So really, it isn’t too OCD, is it?

Well, that is all from me today. I’m hot and need a shower. My dog Star (and me) say Good Night and Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day

I’ve celebrated Earth Day since I was a kid, so this year is no exception. I’m very “Earth Friendly” and “Green.” I have green eyes even! So, it is no surprise that I am going to Blog about it too.

Yesterday I went to the Dollar Tree (where everything is $1) and bought some Earth Day supplies. I ended up getting 50 packs of flower seeds (10 for $1), 2 terra cotta planters and 5 of the plastic planters.

I’m going to plant them later today when it gets a little bit warmer and sunnier. Not all of them, but some at least.

When I lived near Orlando, FL I went to the Earth Day Birthday celebration the rock station 101.1 WJRR put on each year. It wasn’t so Earth friendly really, people generally just went for the music (they get good bands to go). At least the money went to a good cause (I hope) and I have good memories from that.

Here are some pictures I took from my scrapbook from Earth Day concerts I went to in high school.

Yes, I blacked out my ex-boyfriend’s face (who wants to see that scum anyways?)

That guy is Jimmy from Jimmy’s Chicken Shack. I actually met him a month prior to this event at a 311 concert – and he remembered me!

The Offspring and Staind (lower left corner). The Offspring was GREAT! I was at the very front of the crowd – amazing!

While I was looking up some fun facts about Earth Day, I realized the earthday.net website ran out of bandwidth or something and was unable to load. That was the first page listed on Google. Speaking of Google, if you use it today check out what you see:

Here is some educational information about Earth Day from the Earth Day Wiki page (don’t say you never learn anything from my Blog):

Earth Day, celebrated April 22, is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970 and is celebrated in many countries every year. This date is Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.

The United Nations celebrates an Earth Day each year on the March equinox, which is often March 20, a tradition which was founded by peace activist John McConnell in 1969.

Twilight - Wolf Pack

*Paul (Alex Meraz), Sam (Chaske Spencer), Jared (Bronson Pelletier) and Embry (Kiowa Gordon)

USA Today is giving us the first look at Twilight's wolf pack for New Moon. I'm sad to not see Jacob in the group photo, but we all know what he looks like anyways.

"Among wolf pack job requirements: the ability to work half-naked no matter what the weather in the Vancouver, B.C., area, where the film has been shooting for several weeks.

"It's not pleasant for the actors," says director Chris Weitz. "But they have all been good-natured. They show up on location in drenching, cold rain, and I say, 'OK, off with the robes.' "

What do you think of the new addition to the cast? I still prefer the vampires...

New Robin Hood

Did you know there was a new Robin Hood movie coming out featuring Russell Crowe as Robin Hood? I didn’t - until I saw this article First look: New Robin Hood on point with 'Gladiator'.

“Sporting a Caesar haircut and slimmed-down physique, Crowe shed the weight he gained for his portly characters in State of Play and Body of Lies. He also updated the bandit's wardrobe.

"He doesn't have the old Robin Hood tights," says producer Brian Grazer. "He's got armor. He's very medieval. He looks, if anything, more like he did in Gladiator than anything we're used to seeing with Robin Hood."

"Oddly, it's a metaphor for today," Grazer says. "He's trying to create equality in a world where there are a lot of injustices. He's a crusader for the people, trying to reclaim some of the ill-gotten gains of the wealthy. That's a universal theme."

Not that the film will linger on the contemporary. "We just shot a scene where Maid Marion fires a flaming bow and arrow into the night sky. It's just a cool story."

I’m excited to see a new version of Robin Hood. I loved the Robin Hood: Men In Tights comedy and of course the one with Kevin Costner. However, I think this one is going to be much better. The costumes, actors, and special effects will be better (in theory). We shall see. What do you think?

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Trailer

I’ve missed Harry Potter, I admit it. I was swept up with the whole Twilight series and then the Sookie Stackhouse series for a few months. However, after watching this new Harry Potter movie trailer, I have decided I am going to re-read the Harry Potter books next.

*Want to see more trailers for this movie? Check out the YouTube channel for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

I can’t wait to see the movie this summer! I think I am going to take my nephews to go see it at the Imax theater (if possible), if not then I’ll just go with my Mom. Surprisingly, she loves the Harry Potter movies too!

Do you plan on going to see this movie this summer? Do you like the series?

Demigod – Any Good?

I’ve been looking for a cool new video game to play lately. My PS2 is still broken (with no plans on fixing it or buying a new one), and I don’t have another system to play on except the PC. I came across this game randomly through a wiki page.

It looks like it could be pretty cool, but it isn’t really an “online game” though it does have capabilities to do so, sorta. Also, no fee (except original purchase price). I like that!

Here is a picture I made of all the characters I think are pretty cool in it, which I think you get to play as? Maybe? I’m not sure I couldn’t really find much good info on this game yet.

I’ve read a lot of gripes on their forum, but some good things too. There are complainers about every game out there (myself included). I’m not ready to buy this quite yet. I would like to know though, if any of you have played this or know someone who has? What did you or they think of it? Is it worth it? Is it fun? Let me know!

Flashback Friday – Hypercolor T-Shirts

Hypercolor was a popular line of clothing (mainly shirts and shorts) from the late 1980s to the early 1990s that changed color with heat. If you really want to know about how they changed color, I suggest going to look at the Wiki page on it.

Hypercolor shirts were soooo cool when I was in elementary school. I had a few. One was purple that changed to pink and the other was blue that changed to yellow or green I think. I thought I was really cool wearing it. It was the trend. My friends all had Hypercolor shirts too. I remember standing in line for recess or lunch or wherever and we’d all breathe on eachother’s to turn them colors. Oh the memories of being young and buying into these fads.

I never had the shorts, and I don’t remember anyone who had them. Who would ever want to wear those?!? It would show off if you are hot “down there” and would be awkward getting up after sitting down in them. No thanks!

While I was browsing the internet looking for pictures of these shirts, I came across this article from July of 2008 announcing that “Hypercolor is hot again.” Here is a picture of the “new” dress from Anzevino and Florence tank dress costing $84. I don’t remember how much the shirts were originally, but I know for certain they were nowhere near that! What a rip-off! The article goes into depth more places you can get new types of Hypercolor spin-off products, if you are interested. I for one will not be buying into this “trend” ever again. It was fun while being a kid, but as an adult I think I will pass.

I’m Back!

I’m feeling better (mostly) and am able to post more now. Thank you to everyone who commented back on my posts and wished me get well soons. It means a lot to me.

I’ve seemed to have missed way too many posts that all of you guys posted though. So, I probably won’t be able to read them all and catch up. Over a thousand blog posts is just too many for me to read. I hope you guys all understand. I of course will start reading new ones though, and comment as I usually do, so no worries.

My family is here that is visiting from Florida. My aunt and uncle from North Carolina left yesterday. We all had a good time together and I got to use the new digital camcorder. It is fun! I’m going to make a DVD of the footage I captured and add a slideshow of the good pictures from everyone’s cameras. Aunt Stacy, if you are reading this – don’t forget to go through your pictures and send me the good ones!

How did everyone’s Easter go? Did you have a good weekend/week?

I Hate Being Sick

I’m not dead, though at times this past week I certainly felt like I was. I’m not writing a long post because my head is all fuzzy and my throat is killing me (at least until this medicine kicks in again). I just wanted to let all of you know that I’m alive and coughing.

Hopefully this penicillin and cough meds work and this goes away before our family that is visiting comes on Sunday. My Mom is also sick now too, though not as bad as I was/am. We also still have to finish all of the heavy cleaning before they get here. My Dad broke his wrist, so he can’t help with anything and we have to do a lot of extra stuff for him. We’re just falling apart over here huh?

I do have some interesting news for my fellow Twilight fans. Did any of you see the Criminal Minds episode that was on this week? Did you notice who the killer was in it? That’s right! Jackson Rathbone who played Jasper Cullen in Twilight. He was really good in the role too. Here is a clip I found on YouTube, you can probably find the whole thing on there or on CBS.com if they show full episodes.

Movies & More Movies

Being sick and not having much energy to do anything but lay in bed (or on the couch) have allowed me to watch quite a few movies. Here is the list that I remember watching:

Twilight (a few times)
Seven Pounds
I Am Legend
The Lost Boys
The Lost Boys: The Tribe
Devil’s Den
Extreme Dating
Graveyard Dancers
Heavenly Creatures

My favorite out of the bunch? Twilight. I thought that was obvious.

My least favorite was Devil’s Den. It was really quite awful. I only watched it because my pre-teen crush was in it – Devon Sawa. Remember him? He was the boy at the end of Casper who was Casper. He was also in Now and Then. Oh I want to see that movie now. Oh, Devon Sawa was also in the Extreme Dating movie. It was an “okay” movie but nothing special really.

Today I think I am going to watch Zoolander. It always cheers me up. There are so many good quotes in that movie. I’ll probably watch another movie too, but I’m not sure what yet.

Oh also if you have Showtime, The Tudors is back on again tonight! I don’t have it again (yet) but you can catch the season premiere online for free. I embedded it right here if you wanted to watch it. Oh, if you haven’t seen any episodes before that is fine because they recap seasons 1 and 2 before they show season 3 episode 1. Jonathan Rys Meyers is hot, the costumes are great, and it is somewhat based on history. I like it.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend and isn’t sick. And if you are (Lee) I hope you feel better soon too!

The Real Weapon of Mass Destruction

Check out this article that was just published less than an hour ago confirming that, “North Korea defiantly carried out a provocative rocket launch Sunday that the U.S., Japan and other nations suspect was a cover for a test of its long-range missile technology.”

"We cannot contain our disappointment and regret over North Korea's reckless act," presidential spokesman Lee Dong-kwan told reporters Sunday. He said the launch of the long-range rocket "poses a serious threat to security on the Korean peninsula and the world."

Obama said Friday the launch would be "provocative" and said the U.S. would "take appropriate steps to let North Korea know that it can't threaten the safety and security of other countries with impunity."

So, what does that mean for us? Are we leaving one war to go into another one in the very near future with North Korea now? Could this mean the world may really end in 2012? If I were to ask my 8-ball I’m sure it would say “Outlook Not So Good.”

Not Feeling Well

Sorry I haven’t posted anything too interesting lately, I haven’t been feeling very well. I have a really bad sore throat, sneezy, I’m weak and sleepy and just very blah.

Only good thing about not feeling well is that I am pretty much caught up on my TiVo. It has also been rainy here the past few days, which I don’t mind at all. As I’ve said, I love the rain.

My Mom bought me a Twilight tee and a tote bag from Wal-Mart to cheer me up. It was really sweet of her. She also made me homemade chicken noodle soup. Mmm.

Flashback Friday – Pour Some Sugar On Me

Take a step back into time with my favorite song of 1987, Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me.” I was only about 5 when it came out, but I do remember it and I did sing along with it in the car. It is even on my iPod now so I sing along with it in my very own car twenty years later. That is a sign of a good song!

Sing along and rock it out!
(Lyrics below for all those karaoke lovers who sing along too)

"Pour Some Sugar On Me"

Step inside, walk this way
You and me babe, Hey, hey!

Love is like a bomb, baby, c'mon get it on
Livin' like a lover with a radar phone
Lookin' like a tramp, like a video vamp
Demolition woman, can I be your man?
Razzle 'n' a dazzle 'n' a flash a little light
Television lover, baby, go all night
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss ah innocent sugar me, yeah

Hey!
C'mon, take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough

I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet yeah

Listen! red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up

You gotta squeeze a little, squeeze a little
Tease a little more
Easy operator come a knockin' on my door
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss innocent sugar me, yeah

Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough

I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet yeah

[guitar solo]

You got the peaches, I got the cream
Sweet to taste, saccharine
'Cos I'm hot, say what, sticky sweet
From my head, my head, to my feet

Do you take sugar? one lump or two?

Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough
Pour some sugar on me
Oh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
Get it, come get it
Pour your sugar on me
Ooh
Pour some sugar on me
Yeah! Sugar me!
