The Real Weapon of Mass Destruction

Check out this article that was just published less than an hour ago confirming that, “North Korea defiantly carried out a provocative rocket launch Sunday that the U.S., Japan and other nations suspect was a cover for a test of its long-range missile technology.”

"We cannot contain our disappointment and regret over North Korea's reckless act," presidential spokesman Lee Dong-kwan told reporters Sunday. He said the launch of the long-range rocket "poses a serious threat to security on the Korean peninsula and the world."

Obama said Friday the launch would be "provocative" and said the U.S. would "take appropriate steps to let North Korea know that it can't threaten the safety and security of other countries with impunity."

So, what does that mean for us? Are we leaving one war to go into another one in the very near future with North Korea now? Could this mean the world may really end in 2012? If I were to ask my 8-ball I’m sure it would say “Outlook Not So Good.”

Oh come on, the world isn't going to end in 2012.
DON'T PUT THAT THOUGHT IN MY HEAD RIGHT BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP.

It is scary stuff. Hopefully we don't go into a nuclear war... but it looks like it might happen sooner rather than later.

Disturbing, to say the least.

Last night, we were playing cards and listening to music, and OMD's Enola Gay came up. The Enola Gay was the aircraft that dropped the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima. The song came out in 1980. At the time, the Cold War was in full swing, and I remember worrying that we'd all be killed by some horrible bomb from the USSR. Times changed.

Last night, we had not heard the news when the song came on. It was my birthday party, and I joked that "it's so amazing that we were so worried about a nuclear bomb back when this song came out."

Now that threat is back. Sadly, North Korea doesn't have the diplomacy or understanding of world wide impact that the US and Russia had.

So sad. Thank you for posting this.
