Saturday Morning

I am a bit lost of where to begin with this post. This week has been hectic and yet not. As I said in a previous post this week, my friend Robyn is coming from FL to visit. Well, she is still coming just not this week – she’ll be here next week. She got into a car accident on the way here. She is okay but her car is in the shop and now she is flying here. I’m excited! We’re going to have fun and I’m really excited to take her on a paranormal investigation the weekend she is here.

True Blood: Season 1Yesterday I ordered True Blood: Season One and Dead and Gone (book 9 of the Sookie Stackhouse books). Since I was already on Amazon, I figured I’d look for some books about the business my Mom and I started. I wrote down the names of some while we were at Books-a-Million a week or so ago. Well, I found some of them and a few others MUCH cheaper on Amazon.com than in Books-a-Million. I got a few straight from Amazon and 3 from other people used (but in new condition). $6 for a $25-30 book? Hell yeah! I didn’t have such luck with True Blood or Dead and Gone though because well True Blood comes out in a few days (I had to pre-order it) and Dead and Gone just came out a few days ago. Plus, books I really like I have to buy new. I love the new book smell. Yes, I am aware of how dorky I am and I love it.

It has been raining here a lot. So much so that some of the seeds I planted that had been growing quite well were drowned. I had been moving them undercover, but last Saturday when I was at an investigation my parents failed to move them in and some sadly drowned. It was quite disappointing. Nothing is blooming yet, but when it does I will post lots of pictures! For now though, here are the tomato plants coming up and the petunias.

My Blogoversary is in 8 days! I can’t believe it. In a little over a week I will have been blogging for one whole year. If you check on my 2008 entries though, they aren’t as good as now and I didn’t blog nearly as often.

My Mom asked me about this whole Twitter thing. I don’t Twitter. I don’t want to. If I was a celebrity I probably would, but I’m not. I just don’t see the point in it. Do people really care what I am doing at some point in time? I am going to have to go with “no” on that one. Plus, I don’t really like stalkers unless they are stalking my blog of course.

I am going to amuse myself though and post a fake Tweet on here: Right now I am… listening to my iPod and drinking coffee with vanilla coffee creamer. Yum.

Today there is a meeting and then a paranormal investigation. The leaders are going to be watching us to see how we do without them. Exciting and kinda scary. I think I’ll do fine though, I hope. I also realized I really need to start drawing again because my sketch for the new logo thing sucks. Plus my printer/scanner doesn’t want to scan unless I have a color cartridge in there (which I threw out because it was empty). Lovely. Maybe if I take a picture of the sketch and then photoshop it, it will work. Best option right now anyways.

How are your weekends going? Any fun and exciting plans?

I'm glad your friend is okay!

I love the new book smell, too.

I am so jealous of the rain... it has been really hot here in California!

Coffee sounds good!

Happy weekend!

I love getting new books and trying not to break the spine so they look new for longer.

I think I am going to have to try the Sookie Stackhouse books and see what they are about.

Amazon is brilliant for getting books cheaper than the shops and its brilliant getting them in the post as well.

Congrats on the upcoming Blogoversary!

Have fun with your friend! How is True Blood the show anyway? Some say it is lame, but some say it is good. How racy is it?

My mom and sister and I share books, which is nice. But I agree, there are a few that I buy new, in hard back because I know I'll want to keep them.

I can't wait to hear what your business is :) And, I'm glad your friend is OK and still going to come and visit.

I love True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse books. The show is on HBO so it can be rather "racy." It isn't too bad though.

My mom's tomato plants aren't making tomatoes. Plenty of flowers, no fruit!

I've kind of wanted to see True Blood, but it might be skewed because of my love of Twilight.

Of course books are cheaper on Amazon than a REAL bookstore. They are USED, are mainly from private sellers that do not have overhead like a brick and mortar store, and you usually have to pay shipping! You never know what kind of condition a book will be in, if you actually even receive it. Maybe that's why the economy is in such bad shape... people would rather save $2 or $3 on a used book instead of supporting business. I bet there are plenty of sellers on Amazon trying to sell off their personal belongings because they lost their jobs since no one came in to buy their products. Not to mention the loss of human contact. We prefer to hide behind our computer screens, waiting for some elusive package to be delievered. We blog away, telling humorous tales of what GREAT savings we got by not supporting local business...

I know you more than likely will not publish this. This is ok, of course. Your blog, your decision.

And perhaps if paying out a little extra to support the economy, keep people in jobs, etc, is too much for you handle, you should get off the computer and get a real job.

Glad your friends ok!

It was raining all last week here too!

Hopefully the sun will come out for you this week! =)

Anonymous - you claim people 'hide' behind screens? Consider yourself one of them as you are going as anon and not even saying your name. Lame. Also, do some math me saving $45 buying new/used is a lot more than saving $2 or 3 dollars. If "real" bookstores were selling these books cheaper or same price I'd get them there too. I personally like amazon so get over it and perhaps you should get a life hmm?
