Tokidoki Christmas Tree

As I stated before, the picture at the top of the current layout features a Tokidoki design. I love their products even though I can’t afford them all. While I was browsing their website today to see if they had any good holiday specials (they don't), I found this amazing Christmas tree decorated with Tokidoki items.

How cool is that? If I were rich I would so buy those items to make my own Tokidoki Christmas tree. This tree is actually up right now at the Royal T store in Culver City, California. If I lived nearby I’d go visit it and then probably be a regular at their store/café/gallery.

Pajamas Worn In Public

I’m sure you have seen it too. You’ve been to the mall, Wal-Mart, even the movies and you see it: a girl wearing pajamas in some form outside of the house. Perhaps you have even fallen victim of this same fate…

In Florida, I didn’t see it that often. Sure, at UCF I’d see it sometimes from fellow students – but not that often. Usually it was just from girls who woke up late and didn’t have time to put on regular clothes. Of course exception to the rule were the ones who thought it was okay to wear out of the house, or were just being lazy. I never fell victim to this. Personally, I don’t find it that hard to put on a pair of jeans and flip flops even with a t-shirt. The only time I ever left the house in pajamas was for spirit day in high school where we were supposed to wear pajamas.

Once I moved to Alabama though, I saw these pajama wearing women of all ages all over the place. I don’t know why they think it is acceptable, normal or even tolerable. Most of the time it isn’t even cute pajama bottoms or slippers. Usually it is worn out and gross. I see it most at Wal-Mart. One trip to Wal-Mart and you can see at least 10 women in some form of pajamas. These women also like to travel in packs. Maybe it makes them feel less embarrassed if the woman they are standing next to also forgot to put on normal clothing.

The mall is another favorite of these pajama wearers. One trip to the local mall here and you will see at least 3 of these women. The movies and even restaurants I have also spotted them at. ::sigh:: I just don’t get it.

I would understand it if these women were just going into the pharmacy because they were sick, and that is why they were still wearing pajamas. That isn’t the case though, I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed that even. These women apparently just think their pajamas and slippers are equal to jeans and sneakers. Why? WHY?

Butt Station

The Lakeside Collection is another one of those random catalogs we get sent in the mail. They have some cool things in there, but also some very odd things. Here is one of the pages I am sending to the Jay Leno show for his Headlines spot. For now though, it will just be featured here (and of course for sale on their website). The Pyramid Collection

I’ve always been drawn to the “New Age” type of jewelry, books, knick knacks, etc. While I was visiting relatives for Thanksgiving, my Aunt Stacy showed me some catalogs she gets. One of them was The Pyramid Collection. I’ve never heard of this store before, but I loved 75% of the items in this catalog!

After my horrible fiasco shopping on Black Friday, I was bummed and ended up buying some items (mostly on clearance) from their website. I picked out an Aventurine Cabochon Ring that was on clearance for $19.95, Amy Brown 2008 calendar featuring Fairies (also on clearance for $4.99) and a Rhodochrosite ring that was not on clearance for $39.95.

I really like the Aventurine Cabochon Ring. It is a deep green and the setting really does look Victorian antique. As it’s description states, “aventurine’s greenish tint recommends it as a tailsmen of money-attracting magic.”

The Rhodochrosite ring is another story though. It does not look like it does in the picture. It doesn’t at all have an antique feel to it and looks rather goofy to me. The gemstone is pretty, but the setting ruins it. I’m returning it today. It is not worth $39.95 or even $19.95.

Overall, I am happy with my experience with this store though. Hopefully they will submit my return in a timely fashion. If you also like this type of store, check them out and signup for a free catalogue.

Crappy Internet Connection

When I lived in Florida I had cable internet. It was great. I was even able to stay connected during tropical storms! Oh how I miss that faithful connection to the internet…

You see, once I moved to the middle of nowhere in Alabama I was slapped with a slower than slow DSL connection. According to speed tests online it isn’t even as fast as DSL is supposed to be. Oh, and it costs more than the cable connection I had in Florida! $50 per month for a crappy DSL line does NOT make me happy.

Lately it has been even worse. Our internet connection would be connected then lose connection for no apparent reason. I’d unplug the modem and re-plug it back in and it’d work again most of the time. After dealing with the internet “support” people they claim it is the router’s problem. At first I thought it was the router too, and really it could have been part of the problem. I have had it for 7 or so years. So, I got a new one. It only slightly fixed the problem.

First of all, it took hours just to get the router and modem and everything working properly. Funny thing was that after being on support calls with my internet support and with Linksys for HOURS, I was able to connect without them. After that fiasco it worked a little better than before.

After I got back from vacation I really noticed it again. The S-L-O-W browsing, the constant connection lost, resetting the modem, etc is just driving me crazy! The internet company came over and brought us a new modem a few days ago. Well, guess what? The problem is still there! I’m pissed and really have no other internet option choice out here (can we say monopoly).

What the hell should I do? Complain some more just to have the same problems? Try satellite internet? Do any of you have internet issues too?

This Never Happens…

How many times have you gone into a dressing room with 5+ items to try on and ended up liking them all and buying them? I don’t think it has ever happened to me (and if it has, I don’t remember).

Well, yesterday while my Mom and I were out looking for a Christmas tree (which we didn’t find) we stopped in a Cato’s store. We weren’t even planning on going there, but it was by the Subway we had lunch at – so why not just look, right?

I’m a bargain shopper 99% of the time. So, naturally I went straight towards the Clearance racks. I quickly found about 5 shirts that were $2.99 – $6.99 each. Not too bad huh? I figured I’d like at least 2 of them, maybe. Then I saw a really cute pair of pajama bottoms with boots, a dog, makeup, etc. on them (not on sale, but only $9.99). I wasn’t sure about these either because well, I had to get a size smaller than I am because my size wasn’t in stock. I figured I’d try them on anyways just to see.

Once inside the dressing room I was shocked. Everything I tried on fit and looked good on me. Even the usually too small pants! I guess my diet I am on is working! Since Cato’s is low in price to begin with, the items on clearance were quite cheap and therefore was able to get them all. Lucky me!

Let it Snow - please?

I’m a Floridan, I’m not used to ‘cold’ weather. I’ve lived in Northern Alabama for a few years now, but not enough to make up for the better part of my life in Florida. It is true I actually hate the heat and humidity that Florida offers. I do happen to love the fall and winter seasons the most. I even wish it would snow here. After all, what is the point of it getting below freezing without the fresh white snow?

My family goes to visit my Aunt and Uncle in North Carolina a lot during the winter (and summer too really). My favorite memory of snow is when I woke up there one time while my other Aunt was visiting there too and we woke up to fresh snow outside. We played in the snow for hours building snowmen, snowballs and of course – snow angels! Why can’t it snow here? WHY?!?!

That is where this Blog post comes in. Really, it is just me complaining that I want snow. It is in the 20s (Fahrenheit) at night and usually not over the mid 40s during the day. So, why can’t it freaking snow?!? I’m not asking for feet of snow here, just a few inches that will stay on the ground all day. The kind you can play in and make snowballs and small mini-sized snowmen even. It appears to be snowing in Chicago today and I am envious. Send some of your snow here!

Library Thing

Picking up a good book and getting lost in it is one of my favorite things to do. I’ve had a strong love of books since I was a little kid. My Mom taught me to appreciate books and take good care of them – and I still do! Perhaps I am a little bit neurotic about my book care now though. I don’t bend the spines, fold the pages, get any food or water on them, I dust them, etc. Basically, I make sure they still look as good as when I bought them originally.

I would love to have a library in my house one day. Perhaps not as grand as Oprah’s – but a girl can dream, right?

While I was browsing some fellow Blogger’s pages I came across the Library Thing widget. I clicked on the link and instantly had to sign up and make my library. I added most of the books in my room right now. I have more books to add sometime, but they are in storage. It is a pretty cool site, if you like books. You can even see other members that have the same books as you. If you like books, I suggest you sign up too!

The Tales of Beedle the Bard

As I have previously stated, I LOVE the Harry Potter series. I’ve actually had The Tales of Beedle the Bard on pre-order from amazon.com for over a month. Not the $100 Collector's Edition (I wish!), just the regular hardcover one for $7.14. Sure, I’d love the Collector’s Edition more than anyone I know – but is it practical to buy? No, sadly not for me. ::sniff sniff:: J.K Rowling is a terrific writer. I have no doubt that this will be a terrific addition towards the Harry Potter series. It is after all, the item that Hermoine Granger receives from Dumbledore after he dies.

Included in this book are five fairy tales written and illustrated by Rowling. It is not an additional book for the series. It is more like an enhancement. If there ever comes the day when another book is released from Rowling about Harry Potter, I will of course buy that then too. HPAA (Harry Potter Addicts Anonymous) member here.

I checked amazon.com today to see when I should be getting this book shipped to me, and it says I have to wait until about December 8. I suppose I can wait another week to read this book, I will be busy this week as it is.

Does anybody else plan on buying this book? Any thoughts on Harry Potter or J.K Rowling?

National Blog Posting Month aka NaBloPoMo

I just joined NaBloPoMo or National Blog Posting Month. I found it rather randomly from a Blog I stumbled across actually. It isn’t required to post everyday to join, just try to! It is a nice community of Bloggers from different Blogging sites about – what else? Blogging!

Since it is the first of the month I figured I’d get in on this action and join for the month of December’s challenge. What is the challenge you ask? I have to post 30 Blogs in 30 days (1 per day). Last month was the most I have ever posted and it was only 16 posts, so this will be a challenge indeed.
