Flashback Friday – Saved by the Bell

I remember when new episodes of Saved by the Bell (original cast) aired. Yeah, I feel old. I’ve probably seen every episode, and I used to watch reruns whenever it was on after school too. It was corny and cheesy and I loved it.

Saved by the Bell is one of those shows I can watch over and over again. It is just as corny as the last time I saw it, but it still makes me laugh (on the inside anyways – not out loud).

Did you use to like the show too? Do you ever catch reruns of it on and find it just as cheesy yet lovable? Who was your favorite character? Mine was Zack - he was so dreamy! I think I even had a poster of him up in my room from a Bop magazine once.

As stated on tv.com’s page for Saved by the Bell:

Saved By the Bell focused on Zack Morris and his friends: Samuel "Screech" Powers, Kelly Kapowski, Jessie Spano, A.C. Slater and Lisa Turtle. They had adventures and funny moments at Bayside High School in Palisades, California. They often tried to fool the gullible principal, Mr. Richard Belding, but also sometimes got advice from him. They regularly hung out at a burger joint called "The Max," which was owned in the first season by a magician named Max.

As the years went by, they had adventures and relationships that lasted a long time. In the third season, the gang spent the summer at Malibu Sands, an exclusive beach club owned by Mr. Carosi, and his daughter Stacey Carosi, whom Zack fell in love with.

The final season saw the arrival of a new cast member, Tori Scott, who took the place of Kelly and Jessie when Tiffani-Amber Thiessen and Elizabeth Berkley left the show in mid-season. The show ended with the gang graduating and heading off to college in the spin-off series Saved by the Bell: the College Years. There was also another spin-off to this show called Saved by the Bell: TNC.

Saved By the Bell began as a short-lived comedy/drama series named Good Morning, Miss Bliss, which focused on teacher Miss Bliss and her students at John F. Kennedy Junior High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. After the show was cancelled by the Disney Channel, NBC picked up 4 of the characters (Zack, Screech, Lisa and Mr. Belding) and turned it into a new Saturday morning series called Saved by the Bell, which became more of a comedy concentrating on the antics of the students and was re-located to Bayside High School in Pacific Palisades, California.

* I would have posted video segments I liked from You Tube but I couldn’t find any good ones due to copyright issues I guess.

Redneck Seawall

This is a photo I took while on vacation last summer in North Carolina. I've been meaning to post it because I find it quite funny. See all that metal in the seawall? It is old junky cars! They've been there for many years and the grass is growing over them. We drove past here when I was a kid and I'd always point it out, so this time I made sure to take a picture. They also placed the junk cars in the river, why I am not sure. Maybe they fell down from the seawall and ended up there.

The Oscars 2009

Pre-Show

Award shows have always been a big event night for me. When I was a teenager I would even get dressed up and watch them. I watched not only to cheer on my favorite actors/actresses and the fashion they wore. I also watched for the dream. My dream of one day walking down the red carpet, being nominated for an award - and then winning it of course. I still have this dream, and one day perhaps it will even come true. Until then, I will Blog about it. I hope you enjoy my commentary and recap of the Oscars this year.

I watched the E! Live show and was most excited to see Robert Pattinson (surprise surprise)! He is in a tux with a bow tie and just looked amazing and was his usual adorable self. You can view the interview here. Second best to seeing him, was viewing the dresses before the show. I loved most of them, but some were just amazingly bad. Look towards the bottom of this post for my recap of the fashions.

*Oh and that picture is of me from prom photoshopped into my dream vision as best as I could get it. I’d rather be wearing a Valentino dress and actually be standing next to the real Robert Pattinson though.

The Show

The 81st Annual Academy Awards was hosted by Hugh Jackman. He came out singing about all the songs and then dancing. He was in theater, so he was quite good and maintained his sexy vibe still. He did start laughing during “The Reader” bit though. Overall I think he did a good job hosting the show.

Past actresses that have won in a supporting role presented the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. The Oscar went to Penelope Cruz for her performance in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” She was my pick to win in this category. Her gown was beautiful! She was very gracious and a bit surprised that she won I think.

Tina Fey and Steve Martin presented the award for Best Original Screenplay with a great comedic intro. I quite liked it because I too am a writer. They read the screenplay for the short clips of the nominees as they showed the clip. The Oscar went to Dustin Lance Black for “Milk.” His speech was nice and he gave hope to gay rights. I haven’t seen this movie, but congratulations!

They then presented the award for Adapted Screenplay. The Oscar went to Simon Beaufoy for “Slumdog Millionaire.” I still haven’t seen this movie, I really need to since it is winning all these awards.

Jennifer Anniston and Jack Black presented for Best Animated Feature. Jennifer Anniston’s dress was great. The Oscar went to Wall-E. I haven’t seen this either, was it good? I guess it was if it won. They then presented for Animated Short Film. The Oscar went to “La Maison En Petits Cubes.”

Sarah Jessica Parker and Daniel Craig presented for Art Direction. SJP looked absolutely fabulous and very Sex and the City. The Oscar went to “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” Congratulations!

They then presented for Best Costume Design. The Oscar went to “The Duchess.” It was my choice for this category as well, so congratulations! Your work on this film was really spectacular. Not wanting to let SJP and the other guy off camera yet, they also presented the award for Best Makeup. The Oscar went to “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” Great work on this film, congratulations! I really need to see this movie ASAP.

Robert Pattinson and Amanda Seyfried presented for... well nothing. I was hardly paying attention to the show at this point. Robert looked all brooding and terribly nervous. How is that so hot? He presented (if you want to call it that) for what other category than romance? They even showed him in a few Twilight clips - and a bunch of other clips from other movies. There was no award given though. I guess they just wanted to show hot romance clips from movies this year. If it got him up on that stage though, I don’t mind!

Natalie Portman and Ben Stiller (with a very awful fake beard and messed up hair pretending to be Joaquin Phoenix) presented for Cinematography. It was hilarious! He even said he “wanted to retire from being the funny guy.” He was all aloof and walking away from Natalie as she was going over the script. LOL It was great. The Oscar went to “Slumdog Millionaire.”

Jessica Biel then came out in her awful dress to talk about digital animation and CGI.

Three guys came out to present for Best Live Action Short Film. The Oscar went to “Spielzeugland.” Seth laughed after the name was said. Yeah, I haven’t seen it either.

Hugh Jackman came out to do a little more singing and dancing with other guys in top hats and black tuxedos and canes. Beyonce then appeared and was singing in a red showgirl costume with a black top hat with other girls in showgirl-like tuxedos. They sang a song from “Grease” and a few other song clips. It was cute. Then for “Lady Marmelode” Amanda Seyfried and her co-star in “Mamma Mia” came out to sing and dance too. Of course Zac Effron and Vanessa Hudgens were also out there with them. They gave a great tribute to musicals. I liked it.

Past winners for Best Actors in a Supporting Role presented the winner for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. The Oscar went to Heath Ledger for his work in “The Dark Knight.” I really wanted him to win, and am very happy that he did. His family accepted the award on his behalf. The acceptance was very emotional and the celebrities they showed in the audience were almost in tears. Very moving. Congratulations Heath, wherever you are.

Bill Mahr presented the award for Best Documentary. The Oscar went to “Man on Wire.” The Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film went to “Smile Pinki.” I’ve never seen either of these documentaries.

Will Smith presented for Visual Effects. The Oscar went to “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” Personally, I think “The Dark Knight” should have won for it. He then presented again for Sound Editing. The Oscar went to “The Dark Knight.” It was my pick yet again, congratulations! The Oscar for Sound Mixing went to “Slumdog Millionaire.” Will Smith also presented the award for Film Editing. The Oscar went to “Slumdog Millionaire.” Popular film tonight.

Eddie Murphy presented the award for the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Jerry Lewis. It is well deserved, congratulations!

Zac Effron and Alicia Keys presented for Original Score. The Oscar went to “Slumdog Millionaire.” Congratulations, again. They then introduced/presented the singers and dancers for Best Original Song. The Baliwood singers and dancers came out from “Slumdog Millionaire.” With how much they won tonight, it was nice to see something from this movie I have yet to see. The Oscar went to “Slumdog Millionaire” for their “Jai Ho” song. Not a big surprise here was it?

The Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film went to “Departures” which is a Japanese film. Congratulations!

Queen Latifah then came out to pay respect to those entertainers who have passed in the industry. She sang and looked quite fabulous. I’m sure there were quite a few tears rolling down beautiful faces in the crowd.

Reese Witherspoon presented the award for Best Directing and she looked fabulous. The Oscar went to Danny Boyle for “Slumdog Millionaire.” Congratulations.

Previous actresses that have won as Best Actress in a Leading Role presented the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for this year. They said very nice and encouraging words for the nominees that almost moved them all to tears. The Oscar went to Kate Winslet for “The Reader.” Her acceptance speech was genuine and gracious. She was my pick to win. This has been such a great year for her and she really deserves it. Congratulations!

Previous actors that have won as Best Actors in a Leading Role presented the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for this year. They too said admiring words to the nominees. Did anybody else notice Robert Pattinson was sitting behind Mickey Rourke? The Oscar went to Sean Penn for “Milk.” I thought Brad Pitt was going to win, but congratulations nevertheless. Sean is an amazing actor too, and he deserves an Oscar too!

The very talented Stephen Spielberg presented the last (and best) award of the night: Best Motion Picture. The Oscar went to “Slumdog Millionaire.” Congratulations, yet again. I really wanted any movie but that one to win because it already won so many.

My New Ghost Friend

Yesterday I had the meeting with my paranormal group. We went over the new equipment which rocks by the way. We got cameras that hook up to a monitor (with a lot of cables) and we can watch them while investigating. Very similar to what you’d see on any of the TV ghost hunting shows. We also got a few other new cool things to help in investigations.

After the meeting we went to an investigation. As I’ve told you, I can’t get into too many details about the investigation. However, I can talk about some things. So I hope you enjoy what I can share with you.

I was one of the team leads again. Yay me! We investigated 3 rooms in the house. In the upstairs master bedroom was where the majority of activity took place, so I wanted to focus more time in there.

My group was sitting on the floor in the room doing an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) reading. For those that don’t know, an EVP is when we ask questions and tape it to a digital audio recording device. Often we can hear things when we play that back that we did not hear while we were there. Well, we said that if a spirit was there, it could play with my hair or touch me. It did!

I could feel it being colder behind my head and above my head and a static feeling. So I asked someone in the group to see if my hair was moving or something. They said that hairs were standing up and not just one or two, but quite a few. When I went back into that room again later, the camera picked up my hair being parted in the back. I haven’t seen this yet, but I can’t wait! If I can I will also post it here. I’ll have to see if I’m allowed to first though.

So, there is a good investigation with a personal experience involving me for ya. I hope you enjoyed reading about my night ghost hunting! I hope next weekend’s investigation goes well and nobody gets hurt or anything. I know that it will be an interesting investigation to say the least. I just hope I’m able to blog about it.

Weekend Update

Today I won’t be home much, I am going to a “mandatory meeting” with the paranormal group I am in. Why is this meeting so important? Well, we got some new equipment (woot) we need to go over and use before next weekend’s big investigation. Why is next weekend a big investigation you ask? We’re going to a place we have to pay to investigate (boo as in “that sucks” not boo as in a ghost... ghosts don’t say “boo” by the way). It is also a location that has been featured on TV and is a rather big haunted location. I’ll talk much more about this next week, after the investigation. Why not now? Well I don’t want stalkers to go searching for me and scare me. Also, it would be much cooler to tell you about it after the investigation don’t ya think?

We may or may not be going on an investigation tonight. If not, then I’ll get home early and maybe write or watch a movie. Oh the exciting life I live…

Tomorrow I plan on watching the Oscars and writing up a big blog about it as it is on. I did this with the American Music Awards last year and had fun doing it, so I figured why not? Look for it tomorrow after the Oscars is over. I’ll comment on who won, fashion, etc.

I also have news for those that wanted to know about the update to the job I applied for: I didn’t get it. Can you believe they actually sent me a rejection letter? After going in for three tests and an interview (an hour away from where I live too) they just send me a letter. Talk about rude. I would have appreciated a phone call much more than a form letter. What pricks! As I said, it wasn’t a dream job by far so I am not really all that sad about not getting it. I do need a job, but in all honesty that would have been a really crappy job for me. Regardless though, I am going to write them a letter back explaining how bad their “selection process” is and how they need to refrain from saying to people that their “personality is… okay” when theirs is clearly way below par.

On brighter news, I have 28 followers now to this lovely Blog! Yay! Thanks everyone who follows it publicly or secretly. I love you all. I hope you are all having a great weekend and blog about it so I can read and comment back!

I took a little Blog Celebrity test thing, and I am....

C-List Blogger

It is based on Technorati, so if you use that link to me or something so I can be on the A-List. LOL Just kidding - but if you want to that would rock! :)

P.S. - Does anyone know how to backup their blog on here to their PC? I'd like to know how to do it in case something happens to this. I don't want to lose all my posts. Thanks in advance if anyone knows!

Flashback Friday - Rainbow Brite

Rainbow Brite was my favorite cartoon as a kid. I had the whole canopy bed setup, curtains, the dolls, books, stickers, videos – if it was Rainbow Brite I am rather sure I threw a fit in the store and had to have it. Sorry Mom! Here is a cute picture of me with some of the items. Anyone else see the resemblance I have to the cartoon?

A few years ago when I was obsessed with Ebay I bought the dolls and some books. I wish my Mom would have saved them from when I was a kid, but I don’t know what happened to them. They were either sold in garage sales, donated to Salvation Army or thrown out. So anyways, I re-bought them. I also bought the DVD of the episodes and the movie. I would take a picture of them, but they are in storage and hard to get to right now.

For those of you that don’t remember Rainbow Brite (except for seeing it on VH1’s I Love the 80s) and those of you that would like to reminisce too, here is The Story of Rainbow Brite from The Rainbow Brite Story pamphlet.

In a faraway place, right at the end of the rainbow, there is a magical kingdom where all the colors of the earth are created. The kingdom is called Rainbow Land, and living in this wonderful place is a lovable, creative little girl named Rainbow Brite. She uses the colors of the rainbow to make our world brighter and our hearts lighter.

Rainbow Brite's best friend is a magical flying horse named Starlite. He serves as Rainbow's protector and guardian, and as her swiftest means of transportation.

Rainbow's partners are the Color Kids - seven little people with personalities as varied as the colors of the rainbow. They are responsible for their assigned colors, and for organizing and leading the groups of sprites that match their hues.

The sprites are colorful, happy little workers who mine and manfacture "star sprinkles", the magic crystals which form the colors. The favorite sprite of Rainbow Brite is Twink, a white and furry little bundle of energy who was once a sprite of a different color!

The villians of Rainbow Land are Murky Dismal and Lurky - two nasty creatures who live in a place called The Pits. They hate everything colorful and are always plotting ways to capture Rainbow Brite. They want to use color for trickery and evil doings so that the world will be just as murky and dismal as they are.

Join Rainbow Brite and her forces of color as they challenge the forces of gloom, in a struggle to keep the world bright and colorful, and to keep our hearts hopeful and happy.

The website rainbowbrite.net is my favorite place to go for all things Rainbow Brite. So, I wanted to plug it in here. They have a huge amount of things to fill your Rainbow Brite fix including: print out coloring book pages, sounds, pictures, videos, wallpapers, screensavers, information, discussion and more!

They also posted that Hallmark released new images of Rainbow Brite (which will be used soon for things I hope). What do you think of her new look? I like it! I hope they make new cartoons again.

Also, Playmates Toys has been granted the master toy license for Rainbow Brite and is coming out with new dolls for Rainbow Brite, Moonglow, Tickled Pink, Starlite, Sunriser and Shimmer for Fall 2009!!! Are you excited too?

The Real Rihanna “After” Photo

For about a week or so a fake picture of Rihanna has been circulating the internet that was really just a photoshopped picture of her claiming it was how she looked after she was beat up “allegedly” by Chris Brown.

This is the real picture of how she looked after the incident took place earlier this month. TMZ got the photo from a leak in the LAPD somehow. View it here at Rihanna – The Face of a Battered Woman. The LAPD also released this statement which they do not deny it being Rihanna and they are looking to possibly fire the person who leaked it, if they can figure out who did.

I second Perez Hilton in saying that we should boycott Chris Brown. I personally never bought any of his songs, and I am in no way ever doing so in the future. I hope the case against him is strong and they make an example out of him. Doing this to any woman should not be overlooked!

Look! A Rainbow

We had severe weather here all day today it seems like. We had 2 really big thunderstorms come through so far. More might be on the way later tonight. The weather storm alert thing we have went off every 10-15 mins all day. The weather guy was on TV almost all day, etc. We mostly just got a lot of rain and some hail though we may have been near some tornadoes. Hopefully not though.

My Mom noticed a beautiful rainbow after the 2nd storm of the day and I ran upstairs to get my camera. Luckily it wasn’t gone before I was able to snap a few pictures. It was still raining, so it isn’t the best it could be. I think it still turned out rather pretty.

The rainbow was in the lake by our house! How cool is that? Have you ever been really close to a rainbow too?

Gives You Hell

The All-American Rejects are a great group. I like quite a few of their songs. Their new song "Gives You Hell" is one of my favorites right now, so I thought I would share it with you via their fun video for it. It reminds me of Blink182's old ones. Enjoy!

The Bachelor

I’m a selective fan of the reality TV show The Bachelor. Some seasons I watch, some I don’t. Besides what it may seem like, The Bachelor is more than just wine, good looking people, candles, fireplaces, more wine, bikinis, love, more wine and um… wine.

This season The Bachelor has Jason Mesnick from last season’s The Bachelorette. He is a father to an adorable little boy named Ty. I really wanted him to be the one formor Bachelorette DeAnna picked at the end. However, she picked Jesse and it didn’t end up working out (no surprise there).

Anyways, I’ve seen every episode (some fast forwarded through in many parts) from this season. They cast some real weird ladies including one who was practically a Jason stalker. I think her name was Shannon. Another weird one was Erica who filled the bitch role nicely. They always have to cast one loud bitchy drunk ya know?

I really liked Stephanie, a mom of a little girl who is a widow. Her story was very touching and she really does seem like a very nice sweet woman. However, he let her go.

Last night’s episode was the one where they go on the vacation – to New Zealand! He is now down to three ladies: Molly, Melissa and Jill.

Jason picked Jill up in a helicopter for their date. How cool would that be? Very! He then had a picnic for them setup on the edge of a cliff. Very romantic, though I couldn’t help but thinking “what if they had to use the bathroom out in the middle of nowhere?” Then they got all dressed up for more wine at a winery. Fitting location and it was really pretty. She finally tells Jason just how crazy she is about him and he just kisses her. After the make-out session, he gives her the Fantasy Suite card. That means they can go “spend the night together in a fantasy suite.” Mmmhmmm. More wine followed (of course) and more making out in the hot tub surrounded by candles.

Molly (aka. Ms. Burberry) had the next date. They went bungee jumping together and then had a lunch where Molly asked Jason 20 questions. Then they dressed up for more wine and another romantic fireplace area. Awkward conversation where she tells him how much she loves him. Then guess what time it is? Fantasy suite time! They had a bubble bath and of course more wine.

Melissa didn’t get to have her family meet Jason from her hometown visit because they didn’t approve of the show or were camera-shy. For their date they went out on a boat on a lake. By this time Jason was looking tired and unshaven. Then they went to a hot pool overlooking beautiful scenery. They of course had wine there too. Then they dressed up and had a romantic dinner with more wine. This lead to fantasy suite round 3!

Wow. Jason really gets around. Did he have sex with all of them?

Jason doesn’t tell any of them (at least not that they showed) how he really feels about any of them. After they spill their feelings he just kisses them. Maybe he thinks this will keep him from leading them on, but that is simply not the case. Perhaps he knows how DeAnna felt when she was faced with this decision now.

As he is in the dramatic area making his decision on who to breakup with, they give him video pleas the women made for him. This is new, and also weird. Make it harder on the guy geesh!

He comes out and says that he is falling for all of them, but he must break one of their hearts.

Well, he doesn’t lie about that. He broke Jill’s heart when she did not get the rose. He walked her out and talked to her to comfort her, but I think it really just hurt her more. The whole “we’re better friends” speech sucked. It really was watching a bad breakup. Jason even cried after she left. Oh the drama!

In 2 weeks it is the season finale which they claim is the “most dramatic finale in Bachelor history.” Molly and Melissa get to meet his family and his son. Then in the preview they show DeAnna coming back to talk to him! She says, “You haven’t proposed yet, you still have a chance… that’s why I came here.” Then they show him sobbing and leaning out on the balcony. This has got to be good!

The reunion/after show thing is supposed to be very dramatic and so intense for those involved only a few come back. WTF happened?!??!!? I can’t wait to see (and then blog about it). I’m still pulling for DeAnna.

Do any of you watch The Bachelor? What are your thoughts on this season?

The “Like To” Game

This is too funny, you have to do this too! I found this over at Nickie’s Blog.

Rules:
a. Go to Google.
b. Type your name and the words “likes to” all in quotation marks. (ex. "Sheri likes to")
c. Report back on the first ten things that come up for your name.

“Sheri Likes To…”

- Sheri likes to be surprised by little presents or romantic getaways. (Those are nice things!)

- Sheri likes to capture the playfulness of being a child. (I like that too)

- Sheri likes to build houses, hike and travel. (I hate hiking and I’ve never built a house except for the flimsy ones that collapse easy with cards. I do enjoy traveling though, not that I get to that often.)

- Sheri likes to be like an eagle and fly off the pyramid. (Umm?)

- Sheri likes to read, draw, play video games. (OMG! That really does describe me!!!)

- Sheri likes to make your wet dreams a reality. (Wow. Umm, do I? Actually, don’t answer that)

- Sheri likes to work shana-bashana with every one. (WTH is that?)

- Sheri likes to shop. (Yes, I do! I also totally read and loved Confessions of a Shop-a-holic YEARS ago!)

- Sheri likes to read, ride Harleys, go camping and fishing. (I like to read. I’ve never rode a Harley and I don’t enjoy camping or fishing)

- Sheri likes to have a smoke and a cup of coffee in the morning out on the balcony. (I don’t smoke. I do enjoy coffee in the morning though.)

Valentine’s Day Funnies

Here are some funny Valentine’s Day articles (with some of my commentary) I found while checking my mail on Yahoo. Single or in a relationship, I hope you get a few laughs out of these.

Dating Guide: 10 Great Things About Being Single on Valentine's Day

1. It's a great excuse to get crazy with your closest girlfriends. Not that we need an excuse. (No thanks)

2. You can spend it with the hottest, funniest, and smartest person you know -- you. (I guess I am all those things, thanks for reminding me!)

3. There's no better night to pick up guaranteed-single men at the bar. (No thanks)

4. You can see if you really can make it through the whole winter without shaving your legs. (No thanks, though this does make me laugh!)

5. You don't have to listen to anyone's "Valentine's Day is just a made-up commercial holiday, blah blah blah" speech. (LOL that speech = cheap boyfriend)

6. It's the perfect day to blow your New Year's resolution to eat healthy by buying yourself a box of chocolates -- Godiva, not supermarket-brand. (Yum!)

7. There's no better time to practice some self-love with a shopping spree. (Shopping! Count me in!)

8. You're not spending it with that idiot you spent last Valentine's Day with. (I had no date last year too, thanks for reminding me!)

9. It's perfectly acceptable to spend the day working late and to eat Chinese take-out for dinner in your extra-large fleece pajamas. (I love pajamas)

10. You don't have to smile through gritted teeth when you get novelty underwear as a gift. (LOL)

Dating Gripes: Ten Things We Hate About Valentine's Day

1. The Reservations. Single or coupled, if you didn't make a reservation in January, your options for going out to dinner are limited to the local fast food drive-through. (Um… so not true!)

2. The Greeting Cards. The hour of our lives we waste every year in the greeting card aisle, looking for the perfect one. (Who takes an hour looking for a card?)

3. The Flower Fund. The overnight tripling of the price of roses, forcing your boyfriend to choose between getting you a bouquet of a dozen or paying his cable bill that month. (It hardly triples in price, exaggeration much?)

4. The TV Schedule. The 24/7 romantic comedy marathon on TV during the month of February either makes you feel like a loser for being single or makes you resent your boyfriend for not being John Cusack. (I like romantic comedies!)

5. The Relationship Conversation. If you've had anything resembling a date in the past two months, it always prematurely launches the "where is this going?" conversation. (LOL)

6. The Girls'-Night Cliche. If you're single and lucky enough to have three close, single girlfriends, you can't go out in the town with them without being a cliche. (LOL I don’t have 3 single girlfriends)

7. The Generic Gifts. We don't need another stuffed teddy bear holding a heart or a cheap box of "guess the mystery filling" chocolates, thanks. (SOOOO true!)

8. The Absent Cards. They don't make Valentine's Day cards for friends-with-benefits or "I think I like you but it's too soon to tell." (LMAO)

9. The Bills. We just started paying off our credit card bills from holiday shopping -- our bank statements can't handle another gift. (Again, quite true!)

Flashback Friday – Slap Bracelets

One of my favorite fashion accessories growing up as a kid was the fun slap bracelets. I had quite a few of these slap happy bracelets. They were one of those fads that were popular in the early 1990s with kids and teenagers.

If you weren’t around for this particular fad in fashion or don’t remember it, these bracelets were made out of flexible stainless steel with bistable spring bands sealed within a fabric cover. They could be straightened out and then slapped onto the wrist or wherever you wanted to put them. It was fun.

Parents and teachers mostly didn’t like them because they were annoying when kids slapped each other with them constantly. They began to be banned from schools because some of these bracelets were defective and caused injuries due to improper use.

You can still buy these fun little bracelets on average of 99 cents each. Just do a search for “Slap Bracelets” or check them out at partypalooza where I got this image from.

Questions For You:
1. Do you remember back when the slap bracelets were really popular?
2. What did you think of them?
3. Did you own any of these bracelets?
4. Do you think they will ever come back in style?

Rihanna and Chris Brown

I’m sure you have all heard the report that Chris Brown was arrested (and then released on a $50,000 bail) for allegedly attacking his girlfriend Rihanna. It is the big celebrity story going on right now, so I wasn’t going to Blog about it. But, I am in the blogging mood so I am giving in to put my comments out there too about this.

News feeds are coming in what seems like hourly since the attack took place. I’ve been checking up on TMZ more often than my usual 1-2 times per day followed by TMZ on TV at night (though often I watch it the next morning because I TiVo it). Anyways. It is big news.

As stated on TMZ, "according to the police report, Chris received a text message from a woman who wrote about getting together, and an argument erupted." Hell yeah and Rihanna is not to blame for that! What is she supposed to do just sit there and let her man get booty calls? Hell no!

Oh, also sources are now saying that this is not the first time he has abused her. A cheater and a history of violence. What a catch girls. I hope Rihanna never takes him back. She has got to be stronger than that (I hope)!

Also, if you watch TMZ on TV you know the camera guys always ask celebrities either stupid questions or questions about other celebrity stories going on right now. So, they have been asking hip-hop/rappers and Brown’s friends what they think of the whole situation going on between Rihanna and Chris Brown. It infuriates me how they aren’t taking a stand for the abused Rihanna. Come on people! Sure, he isn’t charged and in prison or on probation yet, and there is the whole “innocent before proven guilty” our country has. But really, answers like “He’s a good guy” just does not make sense to me! He was arrested for BEATING HER UP and THREATENING TO KILL HER! How is that a “good guy”?!??! Also, claiming “I didn’t know the circumstances” is not an excuse either! When is it ever okay to beat up a woman?!?!? Ugh! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!

Joaquin Phoenix – Letterman Appearance

Check out this appearance of Joaquin Phoenix on David Letterman last night.

He looks absolutely awful, the audience easily laughs at him, Letterman makes fun of his beard… Watch it. I’m more convinced now than ever that he is in fact acting about all of this “new career rapping and giving up acting” thing he is doing.

After watching this, what do you think?

Vampires Woke Me Up!

I usually don’t remember my dreams, or at least not ones I want to remember. Generally I dream early in the morning, way before I ever want to wake up.

This morning at around 4AM though, I had a dream about vampires. It was good enough for me to run it over in my head for about an hour (I might have dozed back asleep too, but I’m not sure). I debated on if I should just go back to sleep or wake up and type out what I dreamt.

I heard my dad downstairs already making coffee, so I figured I may as well get some coffee and start typing. I really should have just started typing because I think I forgot some of the dream. I changed some parts that didn’t really make sense when I was typing it too. I managed to get 3 full pages typed. It has the dream and notes about it.

It is sort of funny that I dream about vampires this morning. I really haven’t read Twilight or anything for a week or so. No vampire movies either. I did focus on trying to dream about something interesting last night though. I wanted something fun to write about. Not that my book I’m writing now isn’t fun, I just wanted something else to write about too. Well, I got it!

I’m not sure exactly when I’ll really start writing my new story. Oh, also it really has nothing to do with the Twilight vampires; I just like the picture so I had to use it for a Blog post. This one seemed to fit it. :)

Update and a Great Quote

Job Seeking Update: I was called today for an interview! I must be up on the top of their list if they called me so soon. They said they possibly wouldn’t get to people until next Monday! My interview is next week, and I am going to do great. Positive energy here.

Today I’m just going to be cleaning and maybe get in a workout. I also hope, no I will also write more of my book. I’m up to chapter 4 now. I really want to get that chapter written so my main character can finally meet her romantic interest in chapter 6. Exciting huh?

Here is a great quote I came across today that I thought would be great to share with all of you and end this post with:

“And then the day came, when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” - Anais Nin, Danish diarist

Saturday Night

How lame it is not to be doing anything tonight. Not like I ever have exciting plans anyways, but still. I was going to go on a paranormal investigation tonight but I got sick while we were having a meeting. Apparently the shrimp I ate an hour or so before decided it didn’t go so well in my stomach. I left and had to drive an hour home. Ugh. I sped most of the way (but not in an absurd amount or anything). If I was pulled over, I was fully prepared to puke on them to ensure they believed I was sick and needed to get home ASAP.

Oh, the test I took yesterday for the “job” sucked. There were probably close to 30 people there that took the tests. They said that night they were only looking to hire 2-6 people. Lovely. My odds are low, but on the upside of things, one of the ladies remembered my name when I came in. So, I guess I am memorable. That is always a plus.

The personality portion of the tests weren’t inkblots or anything. Though, I was kinda hoping they were just to see them and say I saw an inkblot when asked. It was the whole True/False questions on if you have good self-esteem, ethics, morals, etc. One of the questions asked something along the lines of “One day you would like to have people ask you for an autograph.” I said True, because well - I want to be famous! They probably will think I have a huge head but whatever.

Speaking of being famous. Well, not really speaking more like typing and more like wanting to be famous… I have written about 20 pages of my book. Yeah, it isn’t anywhere near done. Beginning stages remember? I am proud of what I have written though. It is a rough draft and there are things I’ll fill in later, but for where it is right now, I like it.

What I hope is that it will be a great book and then be turned into a movie. What would be even cooler is if I could be one of the characters in it. That would be simply amazing, and really all my dreams come true. Well, except the ones about Robert Pattinson.

Speaking of Robert Pattinson, here is a picture of him from the Vogue dinner party with his friends in London, England last night. He is looking rather tired though. I hope he is getting plenty of rest before he has to go shoot the next 2 Twilight movies!

Oh, I also made a Wordle with the Robert Pattinson Talks Sex blog post I wrote. It is fun. Enjoy.

Flashback Friday – Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Movie

I present to you something new that I want to do every week: Flashback Friday. What is it? Just your weekly dose of things from the past I enjoyed. I think that remembering these things that we once loved (and perhaps forgot about) is great for the spirit.

The first blast from the past I bring to you is one of my favorite movies as a kid: Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Back when Buffy was Kristy Swanson and not Sarah Michelle Gellar that is.

Now that I think about it, this is probably the movie that gave me a love and fascination for vampires.

I remember I saw this movie at the theater with my mom. I was only 8 or 9 years old. I loved it! What was even better at the time was that some of my friend’s parents wouldn’t let them go see it – but I saw it! Plus, I totally had a crush on Luke Perry at the time (he was still on 90210 – also the original) at the time.

The movie also featured quite a few big name actors back when they were younger. I think it was even Hillary Swank’s first movie. Ben Affleck even appeared in a scene.

Buffy – Kristy Swanson
Merrick – Donald Sutherland
Pike – Luke Perry
Kimberly – Hillary Swank
Benny – David Arquette
Amilyn – Paul Reubens (aka Pee Wee Herman)

There are also a ton of funny quotes from the movie. Some of my favorites are:
“Merrick, you made a Joke. Are you okay? Do You want to lie down? I know it hurts the first time.”
“Right. I'm the chosen one. And I choose to be shopping.”
“Does the word "duh" mean anything to you?”
“My secret weapon is PMS.”
“Does Elvis talk to you? Does he tell you to do things? Do you see spots?”
You can view more of them here.

So, my questions for you…

1. Do you remember back when Buffy was not a TV Series?
2. What did you think about this movie?
3. Any favorite lines from it?
4. How funky is your chicken? How loose is your caboose?

Excuse Me, I’m Having A Blonde Moment

Wow. I really can’t believe that I did this today. Remember how I wrote about the last test I have to take for the job I am applying to? Well, the lady who I last talked with from the 2nd test, said I had to come back February 4th to take the next one.

Okay. So, I prepare all day for it. Picking out what I am going to wear, hair, makeup, printed out directions and figured out the best route to get there, etc. It takes about an hour to get there from where I live, and I had never been there. So I wanted to make sure that I got there with plenty of time to spare.

Well, I did. 2 whole days ready to spare! I realize only after getting there and talking with the older guy who works at the facility that it was scheduled for Friday and not today! Oh my God I feel like such an idiot. I look down at the paper and see clearly now: February 6th. NOT February 4th.

At least I know how to get the place now. /sigh

I made the most of it and went to Target after my Legally Blonde moment. My high heeled, pointy toed, dressy leather boots were killing my feet and I really needed a new pair of something for interviews/work. I lucked out and found a nice fake leather pair on clearance for only $18. Half off is nice. No spikey heel and plenty of room for my toes. Wiggle room yay! I also got a few really good deals on some tops. I got 2 for St. Patrick’s Day and one Love one for Valentine’s Day. Also, 2 tank tops I found were only $1.97 and $3.97 each! Score!

Oh, in reference to Legally Blonde. I have a story for you all to laugh at me about that too. This goes way back to when I was 13 or 14. My friend and I went to a mall about an hour away. We were shopping and ended up in the Dollar Store. I was looking at bumper stickers I could put in my locker or in my room. I found a red one with white lettering that said “Legally Blonde.” I had to have it. So, I took it to the cashier and asked him, “How much is this?” He laughed at me and said, “Um. A dollar. This is the DOLLAR STORE.” Hey, in my defense sometimes things in those stores are 2/$1.00 or something. Really, I’m like totally not dumb like okay? God!

Oh, and obviously the picture for this post is not me. It is the very blonde Paris Hilton trying to look smart.

Lady GaGa

Lady Gaga is great. I love her music. Well, at least the songs I've heard. I've been semi-obsessed with the "Just Dance" song for months now. So, I thought I would share with you the music video for it.

Another song that I really quite like from her is "Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)." Here is the new video for it, I hope you enjoy it too!

So my questions for you guys: What did you think of the songs? Are you a fan of Lady Gaga too? What kind of music do you like?

Sleepy

I am really sleepy. This weekend wasn’t that exciting really, so I shouldn’t be that tired. I didn’t really feel too great yesterday and maybe that is why I’m so tired. Anyways…

This weekend I went on a paranormal investigation. It was a residential investigation that was actually quite interesting. Plus I got to be the lead investigator of the group I was in. That is the 2nd time now! Yay!

I’m not sure if any hard evidence was caught or not. I do know that when I was videotaping in one of the bedrooms I caught 2 moving orbs. We reviewed them after the investigation, and yup they were there! That is pretty cool. I usually don’t get to be the one using the camcorder.

There were some personal experiences that happened that night to about 6 people in the group. That is quite a lot. As I said before, I can’t get into details about cases. Sorry! I wish I could but I cannot. It was interesting though to say the least.

I hope that we can get some cool evidence up on our website and I can share it with you guys sometime. If you are interested.

Yesterday I just played Guild Wars pretty much. I was trying to get the Celestial Ox minipet from the Canthan New Year celebration. I am not lucky, so it took me almost 500 tries to get 2 of them. I got quite a few fireworks and stuff though which helps me with the party animal title at least. The hat was the same as the one we always get from the festival, so nothing new there. Their lack of creativity really astounds me. I guess they are really using all their creative juices for Guild Wars 2 – whenever that comes out.

I’m trying to write my novel but am getting kind of stuck. I don’t really know how I want to write it I guess. I’m reading some of my SARK books to get inspired. I used to read these in high school quite often. My wonderful teacher Ms. Weiffenbach (best teacher ever) introduced me to them. We even went with her (about 4 of us) to one of SARK’s book signings a few hours from where we lived. That was a great experience!

My next test for that job is in a few days. I’m not really sure what kind of “test” it is. I think if I can pass as a normal human being I’ll be okay. That is questionable though, so we shall see. LoL.

I hope everyone is doing great and staying warm. It is cold and rainy here today (and I love it). It might even snow tonight or tomorrow. I have heard that one before though, so I won’t believe it until I see it!
