My Thoughts
Yoga is something I’ve been doing off and on for years, so I was quite excited to get to review this book. I’ve never taken a formal yoga class, although I do want to sometime. I am one of those who just use DVDs that I’ve purchased. I haven’t read very much about it though, until reading this book I realized I really didn’t know much about yoga at all.

The book covers 27 things those who want to know more about yoga should know. For instance, it is not a religion (I didn’t realize people actually would think it was) and really more just like a way of life for those who practice it. It can also be done by everyone, but if you have a medical condition or are suffering from something (even menstrual stuff) there are some things you shouldn’t do.

When learning the basic Sanskrit words, I recognized quite a few that I knew already: Chakra, Dharma, Guru, Karma, Mantra, Namaste and Om. The author also gives many helpful tips and suggestions when attending yoga classes. For those who don’t know where to go, she even gives many websites that can help you search for one nearby.

Overall, I found 27 Things to Know About Yoga by Victoria Klein as a great resource for all of those who want to learn more about yoga – from the beginner to the more advanced yoga practitioner.

Hi Sheri, That was a great book review. I took a small class on Yoga as a workout, not the spiritual part. Now I do one or two 20 minute yoga workouts a day with DVD's like you do.

The stretching is wonderful and makes me feel better all day. And I think it is getting me toned, but it's a slow way to get there I guess cause......
I'm not yet! Ha!
