Joaquin Phoenix – Really Wants to be a Rapper

According to this article, Joaquin Phoenix really does want a career in hip-hop. His rep is denying that it is all just a hoax. "The transition from one career to another is never seamless. It should come as no surprise to anyone that Joaquin came from a musical family, in addition to winning a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Johnny Cash," his rep MTV News. "He intends on exploring his musical interests despite speculative, negative or positive reactions."

However, if this was a hoax – would his rep admit it? I think not! Maybe I just really do not want to see Joaquin Phoenix really retire from acting and am in denial of what he is doing now.

Honestly though, I think he is acting right now. He is making this “documentary” with Casey Affleck (his brother-in-law) about his transition to music. Obviously Casey would see (if this were real) that Phoenix is out of it and is horrible as a rapper. He is family and I would hope he would not allow him to be the laughing stock of Hollywood, and perhaps also take him to rehab.

I previously blogged about his recent attempt rapping at LAVO Nightclub in Las Vegas, NV. Phoenix is an awful rapper and he couldn’t remember his lines to his song even. He also is so wasted or high that he falls off the stage at the end. He has also been seen in airports recently being intoxicated as well.

What do you think? Do you believe his rep that it is not a hoax or do you think he could be acting right now?

25 Things About Me

Andhari tagged me with this “25 Things About Me” post. You may know some of these things about me already, or not. Either way I hope you enjoy learning more about me.

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits or goals about you. Then tag 25 people, including the person who tagged you.

1. My favorite theme park is Universal Studio’s Islands of Adventure. I used to have season passes to there and Universal Studios. It was a package deal that included free parking. Fun stuff!

2. I wanted to be an actress when I was a kid. I still do but I could never be in theater. I get too nervous in front of that many people and on stage… no thanks!

3. I’m a writer. I just have been out of practice with fiction since high school. Getting back into that is fun but not easy.

4. Music is usually on when I am at the PC. I have iTunes open almost always.

5. I have no problem listening to the same song many times. Right now I have Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance,” Britney Spears “Circus” and “Womanizer,” The Pussycat Dolls “When I Grow Up,” Pink’s “So What,” Nickelback’s “Gotta Be Somebody” and of course the entire Twilight CD playing mostly.

6. I also enjoy listening to my 2,000 songs on my iPod on random. It almost makes it feel like I’m listening to a really good radio station.

7. Generally, I never feel like I am enough for whatever it is. I’m working on this character flaw.

8. I really wish I had a big cherry blossom tree. Like the kind in Japan. Or perhaps just lived in a city that had them. That would be nice.

9. I’ve studied a lot about geishas. I went through this whole geisha phase. I still really like them though. Japan is awesome.

10. Do you ever feel like you don’t belong in a certain area? I do. I’ve never really felt like I belong where I’ve ever lived. It is weird.

11. I never felt the need to have a ton of friends. I’d rather have ones that are real friends.

12. I never thought I’d like a book series more than Harry Potter, but I do – can you guess what it is? Yup! Twilight!

13. I’m very much Team Edward. Even if Robert Pattinson didn’t play Edward, I’d still be Team Edward. The fact that he does play Edward is just a bonus. He is so much hotter than when he was Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter! Mmmm.

14. I love celebrity gossip. I always have. My favorite websites to hit up for this fix is TMZ and Perez Hilton.

15. In jr. high and high school I was totally obsessed with Gavin Rossdale. I saw Bush in concert two times. The second time I made it up to the very front middle. I got really good pictures too. The best part? Gavin touched me! It totally made my year.

16. Gavin even topped me getting a hug from Nick Hexum (lead singer of 311) the month just before the Bush concert. He is really hot too by the way.

17. I absolutely love guys with British accents. Probably why I like Gavin Rossdale and Robert Pattinson so much.

18. My favorite HBO shows were Sex and the City and Sopranos. I have every season of both on DVD. Love it!

19. I’ve been interested in the paranormal or supernatural, whatever you want to call it since I was a little kid.

20. I really hate writer’s block. Usually when I really start complaining about it though I get 20 ideas at once and don’t know where to start and then I forget almost all of them. Bit of a dilemma there huh?

21. I really believe everyone is a little messed up. I also believe everyone’s family is a lot crazier than they ever admit.

22. Amazon.com is my favorite place to do online shopping. Why? Free shipping if over $25 and no tax!

23. I’ve had quite a few dreams of Robert Pattinson/Edward Cullen. Maybe because I’ve seen the movie quite a few times and I’ve read all the books 2 times now. I’m not complaining though!

24. I save good fortunes from fortune cookies. I have 2 taped on my desk right now. “The project you have in mind will soon gain momentum.” “Fame and fortune are coming your way.” I hope so!

25. I really appreciate every person who follows this blog and who makes comments. You guys are all so amazing and really help push me to keep blogging. Thank you so much!

What The Buck?

I discovered the What The Buck show awhile ago. It is on YouTube and is really very funny. I love, love, love ,love it!

Here is one that he talks about Robert Pattinson’s bath scene, Madonna’s vadgeIna, Britney’s abs, and even shows him in the bathtub. Pretty funny!

The real reason I am posting this though is because he reviewed the Twilight movie for his show. I just urge you to watch it, really. It is hilarious! If you loved the movie or the books or both – it is a must watch. You will be laughing too!

Danger on the Harry Potter Set

Daniel Radcliffe’s stuntman was hospitalized with serious back injuries on Wednesday. According to this article, the accident took place pre-production for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The 25 year old stuntman has doubled for Daniel Radcliffe on all of the Harry Potter films. His name is not being released due to respect for his family. The stuntman was doing an aerial sequence in which the stuntman was suspended by a harness. It went horribly wrong when a planned blast didn’t go according to plan and he crashed to the ground.

I hope that the stuntman will be okay and won’t suffer anything serious overall. My thoughts and prayers go out towards him and his family.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be split up into two movies. The first is supposed to be released in November 2010. I’m not holding my breath though – we all know what happens to release dates. I hope it does come out then, and not in 2011!

Old Greg – Quite Possibly the Weirdest Thing You Will EVER See

My life has been boring this week and I am having trouble coming up with interesting blog posts. Sorry about that. However, I have wanted to post this for you to watch since I saw it this summer. My Aunt Stacy and Uncle Greg (not the same Greg) watch it often. They have memorized lines from this and say it in conversation. It is weird. Old Greg is weird. Apparently it was made from some Australian comedians and is really big over there.

WARNING: This is very weird, could be offensive and um just plain strange. Enjoy?

Noccalula Falls

Earlier this month, I went to Noccalula Falls in Gadsden, Alabama. I had never been (that I can remember) before even though it is rather close to where I live.

This is a picture I took of the falls. It had been raining practically everyday that week. My Mom thought it would be a good time to go and take some pictures because of the high waters. She was right! It was really amazing. I plan on going again maybe this summer to see it at its normal water level.

The legend of Noccalula Falls is a tragic love story. Here is the story as posted on their website:

The Legend of Noccalula came from the early times. Originally known as the Black Creek Falls, the legend as written by Mathilde Bilbro says that "long ago, on a mountain summit within sight and sound of a rushing waterfall, lived a great Indian Chief whose young daughter, Noccalula, was famed far and wide for her beauty and loveliness of character." Many gallant braves sought the old chief for the hand of Noccalula, but only one was favored by the girl's father, a rich chief of a powerful neighboring tribe, who had much to offer in exchange: wampum, horses, and blankets. Vainly Noccalula pleaded that her heart was already given to a young brave of her own tribe.

But this young warrior, though noted for his skill and valor, possessed little in worldly goods. The old chief refused to listen and ordered his daughter to make ready for the marriage he had arranged. What was a maiden's silly fancy against many horses, much wampum and union with another strong tribe? The girl's lover was driven from the tribe, and a marriage agreement was made with the neighboring chief.

The wedding day came and a great feast was prepared. In silence Noccalula allowed herself to be arrayed in festive wedding robes. It was incredible!...To be sold to a stranger by the father she loved! Her chosen lover forever banished! Overcome with grief, she quietly slipped away from the merrymakers during the festivities. The soft rhythmical rush of waters called her...a moment she stood poised upon the brink of the yawning chasm. One leap - and her troubles were over.

Heartbroken, the remorseful father gave the great cataract his daughter's name. Since that day the waterfall has been called Noccalula.

Now, the falls is home to a park and campground. It also has a new wedding chapel being built to overlook the falls. I find that to be rather ironic considering the legend of Noccalula. I for one would definitely never get married there.

Job Tests and the Beginning of a Novel

Yesterday I took another test for a job I am trying to get. It isn’t great, but it does offer full health and dental. Which if hired, I would go and try to get invisilgn ASAP. I’ve wanted to get this for years! Anyways, back to the tests for it. I passed the first one really easily. It was a typing test which required 30 wpm. I was able to do 73 wpm. Yay! Then I had to fill out their application (in addition to my resume). Yesterday’s test was on the computer and was comprised of 9 different parts. I had to score at least a 65% on each part. I averaged a 91%. Yay! Next up is a personality test or something next week. Hmm. Hopefully I can pass as a normal and well balanced person.

One of my goals for this year is to write a novel, and guess what? I am! I started it last week. I have the character profiles of my two main characters written. I’ve also got a rough draft of the Chapter Outlines written up too. I wrote the epilogue and a little bit of the first chapter so far. I’m excited I’m actually doing it and it is fun. Only problem is that it takes place in London, England and I’ve never been there. So naturally, I need to do a lot of research for it.

Another goal of mine is to read more. Which I am, if you count reading Twilight and New Moon again for the 2nd time. Okay, so I didn’t read all of New Moon again. I skipped the whole part after Edward leaves up until Alice shows up at Bella’s house. It isn’t that I hate Jacob, I just didn’t want to read that part again because I am Team Edward. When I get up to Breaking Dawn again, I will probably skip the part that is written from Jacob’s point of view too.

I saw the movie Speak which Kristen Stewart is in last night. She actually has quite a few scenes that are sort of similar to Twilight. Well, they are in high school and there is only so much I guess you can show of that. It was pretty good though. Her actual boyfriend is in that movie with her too.

This weekend it is warming up some too. I hope to be able to get in a few good walks outside. I hope everyone else is having a great weekend too!

Suspect Turned Into a Goat!

In Lagos, Nigeria one of their biggest daily newspapers recently reported that police implicated a goat in an attempted automobile theft. Vanguard newspaper reported that “two men tried to steal a Mazda car two days earlier in Kwara State, with one suspect transforming himself into a goat as vigilantes cornered him.”

As reported in this article, the newspaper quoted policeman Tunde Mohammed saying that while one suspect escaped, the other transformed into a goat as he was about to be apprehended. Belief in black magic is widespread in Nigeria, especially in rural areas.

Was this a shape-shifting human to a goat, a high policeman - or something else? What do you think?

$2,200 Scent

Ralph Lauren’s Love fragrance Amethyst Luxury Edition costs $2,200 for half an ounce! Shocking, I know. I won’t be buying this anytime soon either. I don’t know anyone who will actually because I don’t know anyone who just blows money like that. I wish I did haha!

What makes this perfume so special to cost $2,200? The cap is topped with a 47-carat amethyst. Really, it is very beautiful. The neck of the bottle is also covered in 24-karat gold. Also, because it is a perfume, not an eau de parfum or eau de toilette, it has a higher concentration of fragrance oils. It contains two rare essential oils (Bulgarian Rose and Orris Root Butter) which also brings the price up. The regular version of the perfume is $600 and refills are $350.

Really though, I love perfumes and cologne (worn on guys). Two of my favorites are Burberry Brit and J’adore by Dior. I don’t wear them all the time though (too pricey). I usually just wear one of my many perfumes from Avon. Of those my favorite is Rogue by Christian Lacroix. The picture below is of most of my perfumes displayed on my shelf.

Blood Rayne

I just finished watching Blood Rayne 1 and 2 that I rented from NetFlix. As you know, I love vampire movies and books. So, I thought this one sounded like it would be good to watch. Half-vampire half-human, Rayne sets out to destroy other bad vampires. Sounds like my kind of vampire movie, so I added it to the Que.

The storyline for the first movie wasn’t too bad (not good, but not bad). I watched it nonetheless; I mean I had nothing else to do. The fight scenes made me laugh, the squirting blood and slicing people and vampires in half was just too much to not laugh. It was too unrealistic for this movie to be made in 2006. The acting wasn’t great, but not horrible either. I give it about a 5/10.

Today I decided to watch Blood Rayne 2. The storyline was pathetic. The acting was worse. The fight scenes were worse. Everything was worse. I barely held attention to it while I was browsing the internet. I give this movie a 1/10. I will never watch it again.

The movies were based (sort of) on the video games. I never played them, though I would, most likely. From what I read on reviews, the games are much better than the movies. Have any of you seen the movies or played the video games? What did you think?

Vampires, Twilight and Blood - Oh My!

While letting my mind wander aimlessly today I came to question something about the Twilight series. Perhaps all vampire stories even.

If blood gets vampires all hot and bothered to want to kill… why doesn’t the fact that girls have their period matter? For instance, in New Moon Jasper wants to kill Bella after she slices her finger with a paper cut. Now surely Bella (and oh 99% of the other girls at their high school) has had her period. So, why doesn’t that bother them?

Just a question. Laugh if you must but really, think about it.

Singing, Reading and a Contest!

While I was reading Blogs today I realized I have a talent. Perhaps it is not that exciting, but I think it is really pretty cool...

I can sing and read at the same time! To different things I mean. I was singing along to Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” and reading my friend’s Blog when it hit me. I think it is rather interesting. I mean, I sing along to the radio and my iPod all the time. I don’t think much of it. I don’t really think I sing that great, but reading something else while doing it… now that is something! LOL

My favorite spot to sing (alone) is in the car while driving. I get all into it. Love it! I like all kinds of music pretty much – I hate country though. Funny thing being as I live in Alabama now. I really miss Orlando, FL’s radio stations. I sometimes listen to them online but that just makes me miss Florida that much more. For the most part I just listen to my iPod now.

That brings me to my friend Lee's Blog Post I read today. She just hit her 100th post. Congrats! She is such a kind, awesome and amazing person that she is giving away a $20 gift card over at her blog for the event. Check it out!

Desk Tag

I just finished cleaning up my desk and thought up a great idea for a Blog Tagging post. Why not start a “Desk Tag”? I wrote up the rules to follow below and am requesting people comment on this post if they were tagged and posted it. Why? Well, I am interested to see how many people will do it, and I think it is a fun way to see other people’s desks. So, here you go!

You have been tagged to take a picture of your desk and post it on your Blog. Clean, messy, however it is that you want to show to everyone.

This is my desk. It is in my bedroom and takes up too much space. It has been put together twice now and I don’t honestly want to ever take it apart and put it back together again. What a pain! My bobble hula girl is from Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach, FL. Reminds me of home and I love it! The cherry blossom fake flower/tree I have I bought from Pier 1 Imports (I used to work there). I love cherry blossom trees and just had to get this! Plus, I love how it adds height and dimension to that corner in my room.

What you need to do:
1. Post a picture of your desk.
2. Link to the person who tagged you.
3. Write a little bit about the things on your desk or even about the desk itself.
4. Tag as many or as few people as you’d like.
5. Go to http://xsherix.blogspot.com/2009/01/desk-tag.html and leave a comment on the original “Desk Tag” post please!

Tagged:
If you are reading this, consider yourself tagged! I want everyone to get in on the action with this one.

So, there you have it. You have been chosen to play the new game of Desk Tag. I hope you all participate!

2009 Vision Board

In one of my previous posts, I explained how I was making a vision board for the New Year. I have had it semi-made for about a week now, just never got around to taking a picture of it and posting it here for you all to see.

I used a white poster board from Wal Mart and I typed up my goals for the year in the Twilight font (in case you were wondering why it looked familiar). I spent a few hours going through old magazines and cut out some words that were relevant to what I want and found a few pictures to add as well. There are some on the bottom that you can’t see in the picture, like a really cool Dior high heel. I still need to add quite a bit to the board, but there aren’t any rules to this and I can add to it as I find things.

Writing is my number one goal. I have been blogging everyday pretty much. I really enjoy it and I love this whole Blog-o-sphere of friends I have met doing so. However, I really want to write a book this year. I’ve actually started one too. Well, I have written up the character profiles for the two main characters and started the chapter outline. It is a really good start though, or I think so anyways. I hope to finish that outline today and start writing it tonight or tomorrow. I’m excited! I haven’t written much fiction since high school. I used to write poetry and prose all the time. I was even my high school’s literary/art magazine editor my senior year. After I started college though, I guess I just didn’t find the time to write anymore and stopped. Well, this year that is changing!

Another very important goal for me right now is to get a job I like. I need money, badly.

Reading everyday is also another goal because it is something I really enjoy doing as well. I want to read more books this year, read my magazines as I get them instead of letting them pile up on my ottoman, and read all of your lovely Blogs as well!

Art is another thing I used to do all the time and just stopped. I did actually start painting in college. I didn’t take classes or anything; I just wanted real artwork on the walls and figured “Hey, I could do that.” So, I did. I want to start painting again. I also want to take more pictures and draw again.

Losing weight is a very common goal for people, and it is one of mine too. I am using Spark People to reach my goals. It is a FREE online weight loss community. I’ll make a whole big post about this soon. It rocks, really!

I’ve always been pretty organized. However, after moving back to my parent’s after having a whole apartment to myself makes one bedroom very crammed. I do have a storage unit, but who wants to put everything in there? Not me!

The “Embrace Me” goal is more of just learning to love myself how I am. I don’t want to say “I’m such a dork” or “I’m not ____ enough” anymore. I am ____ enough and I do deserve it!

Robert Pattinson Talks Sex

Wow. Sheri's World has to bring this to you to view... So, I just found this video of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and other Twilight cast members being interviewed from NGTV.com. It is hilarious. Watch it if you don't have little ears around because they do cuss in it and talk about sex. Apparently, Robert Pattinson thinks vampire sex would be the best type of sex. Sounds like he likes it rough. Mmmm. Can I try out for that role?

Phoenix What Were You Thinking?

After I wrote that lovely Blog post about Joaquin Phoenix being so great in Walk The Line I find a video of him on TMZ.com. It is not pretty. I don’t think they allow embedding of files. So, I am just going to direct you go watch it over at their paparazzi-love-fest of a website (it is a secret indulgence of mine). The title of the story (and link to it) is: Joaquin Phoenix: Thanks Academy -- For Nothing.

Update - I found better video coverage of it over at http://perezhilton.com/2009-01-17-joaquin-phoenix-is-this-a-joke Make sure you watch the 2nd one where he falls over!

Walk The Line

I just saw the movie Walk The Line last night. I know, it was released in 2005 and was a big hit then. I just never really wanted to see it because I am not a fan of country music. Bad excuse really because it was a superb movie! If you are able to see the movie somehow, you really should!

Johnny Cash is a legend in music. Even someone like myself who doesn’t like country music actually likes a few of his songs such as “Ring of Fire.” He is also the only person besides Hank Williams that has been inducted into the Songwriters, Country Music and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame.

Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal of Johnny Cash was outstanding. He evolves from a boy on a cotton farm to the gospel singing lead man in a band to then the Man in Black himself. Each step of Johnny Cash’s life that was shown was just so moving. You wanted him to do well, and you wanted him to leave his horrible wife (Ginnifer Goodwin) and be with his true love – June Carter (Reese Witherspoon). At least, that is how I felt while watching it.

Reese Witherspoon showed through this movie that she is so much more than Legally Blonde. I’ve always been a fan of hers, but this movie really made me respect her much more as an actress. The character of June Carter just had so much more depth and strength than her usual roles. It was a really great performance.

In addition to their quality acting in this film, they also learned how to sing for it too. Yes, it is them singing in the movie. They also each learned to play their instruments (guitar and auto-harp) from scratch. That is real dedication to a role, and I have much respect and admiration for both of them.

The film won 28 awards, most notably an Oscar for Reese Witherspoon’s best performance by an actress in a leading role. Well deserved but I think Joaquin Phoenix should have also won one for his performance.

Baby, Its Cold Outside

The arctic air that is chilling the good ole’ USA (well, most parts) is even reaching down to us here in Alabama. It is about 22 degrees F right now. Last night it was supposed to go down to 0 or 10 degrees. Crazy! It is never this cold here.

I’m not complaining though, I love it! We do have a heater upstairs and downstairs, and a fireplace. So, it isn’t like we’re suffering in the cold outside with the wind chill or anything. If we were, I’m sure I’d hate it too. If only we had snow… then I’d be even happier. Ah, maybe we will get a miracle and it will snow.

Here are some amazing pictures that were e-mailed to me over a year ago that were taken in Switzerland (or so they said). I think they're cool though, so enjoy!

Suicidal Deer

A little over a year ago as I was on my way home from school when a deer hit my car! I know many people claim that it is not their fault, but really this deer RAN INTO MY CAR! It came at me from the side of the woods and was probably running at the same speed as I was driving when it ran right into the front left of my car.

It happened really fast, so from what I can remember in this split second is that the deer was in the corner of my eye (left) and then glass was flying at me from the windshield. I luckily could see out of the right portion of the windshield (about a foot worth was able to see out of). I made it to a street that happened to be nearby (I was in the middle of nowhere in the country). It was all very scary and traumatic.

A lady and her daughter were driving by when I was standing outside of the car and trying to get cell service. I was just hoping someone (nice and not a serial killer) would stop and help. Luckily, they were very nice and drove me home.

Of course when I got home I was still in shock and my parents were not home. I called them and my dad thought I said “Get me some beer” instead of “Dad, I hit a deer.” While I can sort of laugh about that now, it was not funny at the time.

The deer is definitely dead; it was a big dark buck. Either someone picked it up and brought home the road kill of deer suicide, or it limped off into the woods to die a less embarrassing death.

Here are some pictures of my car after the deer committed its suicide on my car…. Yes, the bottom pictures show the hair from the deer that was still on my car.

After the initial shock wore off, I started crying and freaking out for probably three hours. I thought I swallowed some small pieces of glass from when it flew at me. I was thankful for being alive because I realized just how close I was to not being alive at all. I had some back and neck pain from the accident, but it is fine now.

I definitely had Angels on my side that evening, and I hope all of my friends who read this will take the time to do those things in life you always wanted to do because you never know when you won’t be able to. One minute you could be singing along to the radio and the next you could be dead.

Holy Mayonnaise!

Subway is great. I love their $5 Footlong deal going on. I get the oven roasted chicken sandwich with very light mayonnaise and just lettuce on wheat bread. I’ve always been pretty plain when it comes to sandwiches. I don’t really ever like cheese on them; I don’t like raw tomatoes, olives, peppers, etc. Unless I am really starving, I can have two meals off it too. Not bad for only $5!

After I ordered mine, the girl who was making the subs made one for herself. Okay, I’m sure they get one for free for lunch too. However, what she put on hers made me cringe. She put turkey, ham, bacon, lots of cheese, and covered it with mayonnaise. I’m not talking just two lines of mayo on each side either. I’m saying covered it! There were at least 5-6 lines of mayo on each side of the bread. I know Subway uses the light mayo. Even still that would equal at least an additional 1,200 calories to that one sandwich – not including everything else on it. Wow.

Sydney White

While I was watching the movie Sydney White, I was reminiscing about my own college days. Maybe that is why I continued to watch the movie. It wasn’t that stimulating and the acting wasn’t so grand. Amanda Bynes did an okay job but she over-acts too much for my liking. It doesn’t really seem natural. It is a cute teen-movie though that has a spin on the classic Snow White theme.

However, when the scene came up that included the gym I did a double-take. It looked just like my old college’s gym! Surely it couldn’t be UCF’s, could it? The open layout, the treadmills overlooking the weights and of course my favorite feature of all: the treadmills with TVs on them. I also spotted a portion of the wall climbing area and the big tall palm trees outside. Hmm. Maybe it was filmed at UCF after all!

That is when I did a little internet research to see where this movie was filmed at. Turns out I was right! It was shot in spots at the University of Central Florida including Greek Row and the big gym I miss so much. They also filmed the movie in various locations at Rollins College, around Orlando, Winter Garden, Winter Park, and environs, in L.A.

When I was going to school at UCF, the CW (or was it still the WB back then) shot Big Man On Campus there. I only watched it to make fun of the girls they had on the show and of course to see all the areas I’ve been. I have to admit it is fun being able to say “I’ve been there!” or “I have a class in that building” or “I know right where that is!” during a show (or movie).

Hood Thong

In more fashion weirdness, I have found The Hood Thong. Yes, it is a thong that has a hood. Han & Brikaauski do say that they are not in full production yet. However, they are taking custom orders in case the dozen or so people in the world want to own one of these things.

From their website, they say that “You will be getting one of the most progressive, functional, temperature-controlled pieces of fashion around.” & “It will be a bit expensive until we get into China, but totally worth it in everyone’s opinion.”

I just don’t see myself ever needed a thong with a hood. On the rare occasion someone would be outside and it was either raining or too cold and one would need a thong hood, I sure hope they have on more articles of clothing than just this. It looks like a bit like a seatbelt by the crotch. Also, you’d need a good bikini wax for this piece of “fashion.” Then there is the matter of the boobage. What to do with that?

I find this to be a hilarious addition to “fashion” I do hope that some funny comedian wears it sometime though, now that would be funny.

Oh, also does anyone else find the picture of the model to be just too funny? Everything about it makes me laugh, from the hood thong right down to the scrunchy socks and high top sneakers.

Just Say “No” to the Acid Wash Jeans

As I was going through my stack of magazines the other day, I came across a little half page article in Lucky on acid wash jeans. Yes, those horrible nightmare of jeans from the 80s. The article says that they also are called “mineral wash” these days. Whatever, I’m going to still call them “acid wash.” I also am not taking their advice on this fashion “comeback.”

I never wore them in the 80s, and I will not wear them now. A fashion mistake like this should never be resurrected. What were they thinking? What do you think of this trend?

Beautiful Weather

This is a picture that I took on Monday. It’s been this kind of weather since Saturday I think, maybe longer. Some might not think it qualifies as being “beautiful weather.” I however, beg to differ. I love winter. I really wish it snowed here. Since it doesn’t, I take what I can get of the cold, rainy and overcast days.

I would have posted this picture yesterday, as I had planned. However, I got too caught up in reading New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn from the Twilight series. Yes, I read all of those in less than 3 days. I’ll make a post soon about my thoughts on that.

Weather like this makes me get out the song by Garbage “I’m Only Happy When It Rains.” I really love that song. Maybe because it reminds me of junior high school. Maybe because it reminds me of old friends I most likely won’t ever see again. Maybe because I just really like the rain?

Tagged!

I was tagged by the lovely http://celefinwe.blogspot.com/ back in December, so I thought now would be a good time to post it. I had been delaying because well, I had to find a good picture to use! Also, I wanted to change up the tag just a little. I added and deleted a few questions. Enjoy!

1. Do you think you're hot?
No. I sometimes think I’m pretty. I’ve never thought I was hot, even when I was thinner. I have sort of low self esteem in that department.

2. Upload your favorite picture of you.

3. Why do you like that picture?
I love this picture because it so displays who I am, even now. It was taken when I was four years old (I think). Even at 25 though, it shows me now I think personality wise. Plus, how cute was I? I also wish I would have appreciated just how blonde my hair was then. I’d laugh when my mom told me women pay to have their hair like mine… but it is so true.

4. When was the last time you ate pizza?
I had homemade pizza a week or two ago.

5. The last song you listened to?
“Decode” by Paramore. Yes, Twilight Soundtrack again… hehe.

6. The last movie you watched?
Twilight.

7. Last restaurant you ate at?
Applebees.

8. Last book you fully read?
New Moon by Stephanie Meyer. Yeah! I finally got the final three books and started reading them last night. I am now halfway into Eclipse. My goal is to finish that and Breaking Dawn tonight.

9. What are you doing right now, besides this?
Watching TV.

10. What name do you prefer besides your own?
As in what else do I like being called? Hmm, I don’t really have any other names besides Sheri. In jr. high my nickname was Star, but that is my dog’s name now. :)

Inspirational Quotes

Here are a few great quotes I found from one of my mom’s magazines. I think they are a great way to bring the New Year in with. So, I am sharing them with you. Enjoy!

“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” – Lucille Ball

“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” – Alice Walker

Paranormal Investigation

I have briefly stated on this Blog that I am a Paranormal Investigator. Some have asked me what that is. Well, the easiest way to explain it is to say that I am a “Ghost Hunter.” I am in a group that goes out on Saturday nights to haunted locations. Anywhere from a residential house that the home’s owner has contacted us to investigate, an abandoned building, cemetery, wherever. If you have ever seen an episode of the show “Ghost Hunters” on SciFi - that is basically what we do minus the TV camera crew following us around. We use the EMF detectors, digital cameras, digital camcorders, K2 meters, digital audio recorders, etc.

I’ve been interested in the paranormal for as long as I can remember. I’ve always believed in ghosts and spirits, so I am not one of those people who just are doing this because it is “cool.” Yes, there are some groups out there who do it just for that. Why? I don’t know. They are tools. They make the community of us look bad and it really just annoys me. I could go on about this, but that would be a much longer and mad post. So, moving on…

Last night we went on an investigation at a residential house about an hour or so from where I live. All day yesterday it was foggy and rainy. I hate to bring up Twilight again, but it was really much like the weather described in the book at Forks. Perfect mood for ghost hunting. Also, some believe that rain can also help bring out ghost and spiritual activity.

We investigated from 7pm until about 11pm. Due to the confidentiality of such investigations; I can’t get into how it went or what I thought right now. All I can say is that it was a good investigation, and I hope we caught some good evidence to go with it.

Shelfari

I have decided to take off (at least for now) my Library Thing widget and replace it with the Shelfari one. I think the Shelfari one looks better, and it displays the books better in my opinion. It doesn’t display as many at once, and it is inside an even shelf.

I spent about an hour putting books on my new shelf. I still need to go in and rate them and edit the widget some for my Blog. For now though, it is fine as it is. Oh, I also still need to add books I have in storage to it. I’ve been meaning to go down there and grab my books but just haven’t had time to do so lately.

Shelfari also has groups. I joined a few. One for Twilight in general and one for women 25+. Ha! I fit into the “mom” category even though I’m not a mom. Ah, least I’m not the only one 25+ in love with the series! I also joined a few other groups. It offers discussions too, which I like.

Overall, I am liking Shelfari quite a bit more. Do you like the Shelfari widget or the Library Thing one more?

Big Brother Will Be Watching...

I came across this article today almost by accident. It is something we should all take a few minutes to read though. Why? Because it has to do with something we all have, at least right now... Internet privacy, well for the most part. Here is the article below, or you can click on that link to go straight to it.

Government to allow private firms to monitor every move we make. I’m moving to China.
By: Mike Butcher on December 31, 2008

It will cost £12 billion, be run by private companies and track every move you make on the internet, every call, text message and every transaction. Yes, this is the UK government proposal to manage and run a communications database that will make Chinese attempts to control and monitor its citizens look like “light touch” regulation.

The only difference with one-party states like China (ok, so apart from the summary trials and executions) is that the government claims that it will not look at the content on our every electronic interaction, but merely at the points of entry. The “pings”, if you like, to use a geek term.

Of course, this is incorrect. By building up a database about our movements - our morning rituals of checking emails, visiting web sites, buying online - this will build up a pattern. This in itself is “content”. This will create a pattern of recognition about our movements. Plus how long would it be before they start to argue that they need to see the content as well? Curiously, because so few people in China - relatively speaking - are online and/or using credit cards, China will look pretty free compared to our electronically driven society.

I could write a 1,000 more words more on this subject. For now the scale of the project beggars belief. From a government which has presided over countless numbers of security breaches, including a missing CD containing every child’s name and address in the UK, it is an amazing act of hubris. Plus, it comes in the wake proposals by the Ministry of Truth (Ok, so the Department of Culture, Media and Sport) to regulate content. So now we are watched as we go online, and the content we view is to be rated and standardised. Welcome to Britain in the 21st Century.

The more salient point to note for TechCrunch readers is that the impact on British online business will be significant. At a time when one of the few areas of growth in the economy is the digital sector, the UK government wants to look over the shoulder of the consumer when they go online. Will this make them feel safer, or preyed upon? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
